This is one of the hardest questions to answer even for SEO practitioners. Since Google search algorithm changes occur frequently, it follows that the constant change in SEO varies directly with that in search engine rankings.

Most search engine optimization (SEO) experts focus much more on Google than the other major search engines like Bing, Yahoo, AOL, and so on, even though there are hundreds of search engines on the web today. So, in this tutorial, we’ll be focusing on Google, being the most commonly-used search engine in the online world.

What is Search Ranking?

Of course, search engines are broadly-used to search informative content online. If you need detailed information regarding On-page SEO, you can quickly consult the web through Google and get tons of guides related to that.

Results are displayed on search engine result pages (SERPs) for users based on content relevancy to the search queries.

In simple terms, getting your site listed on SERPs is regarded as indexing. Achieving positions on SERPs for a specific keyword is known as search engine ranking.
