This is a great tactic to use if you see plugins or themes that other people are using on their website, and you want to know what it is! Often, all you need to do is email somebody, but that can take days, or they may just think it's email/comment spam. This way you can take matters into your own hands!

Once you get a bit familiar with the code or know what you're looking for, you can see other stuff about their website too!

Great video Nathaniell, that's pretty much exactly the type of thing I do when I want to know what someone is using.

The only other thing I would add, going off past experience related to local clients. Some web design companies rename the theme folder name.
But if you load up the style.css file they often forget to change the author credit details.

Thanks for the tip craig! Are they changing the theme file to prevent people from snooping?

Most likely, or maybe a white-label branding type reason.

Awesome Video Nathaniel, really had some valuable information. I actually knew about the page source info, but you really went into depth with it. I know this is going to help out a ton of people :)
