When I talk about posting your schedule, I don’t mean keeping it up on your computer or posting it to your wall (though you can do that too). What I am talking about is posting it to your website for everyone to see. That may seem strange, but hear me out.

Doing this takes the accountability factor up a few notches. I have made private schedules for myself many times. After a while, I inevitably get off-track and don’t follow it anymore.

When you post your schedule to your site for all the world to see, you almost have no choice but to follow through on it. No one enjoys people making promises that they don’t keep. This forces you to stay on track because you are accountable to others, as well as yourself. In fact, the success of your entire website may now depend on your ability to follow through on the schedule.

However crazy that may sound, think about the possible benefits. Imagine you make every post on time for months on end. What does that do in the eyes of your readers? It builds an incredible level of trust!

If I am only posting an article here or an article there, my audience isn’t going to stick around because there is no rhyme or reason to my site. However, if I deliver on my promises, people will start to see me, not as just another site, but as a reliable, go-to source of information.

Your consistency, especially in the beginning, will not only start to build your audience as word gets around, but will grow your site's authority. If you should slip up after building a huge amount of trust, your readers will be more willing to forgive it.

Since implementing this system, I have received incredibly positive feedback on my own site and seen my numbers steadily grow!

Additionally, putting your schedule out there is a way of whetting the appetite. You are getting your readers excited for a product you are going to review or a topic you are going to cover.

Remember how it feels when you go to the theater and a trailer comes on for a movie you’ve been excited about? That’s what you want to give your readers! Build their anticipation for what you have coming down the road.

If you can get them excited enough, they may even share it with others, creating a network of anticipation. If they see a particular topic they are interested in happening on a Monday in April, you then become part of their schedule.

Write well enough, and you may even get audience members checking out posts they didn't think they were interested in before, but have to check out now that they trust you.

Lastly, by posting your schedule, you are telling your reader that you want to be kept accountable. This is crucial in building a relationship with your audience and the success of your website.
