When Is My Registration Effective?

The effective date for your registration, in most cases, when the copyright office issue you a registration certificate, it will be assigned as the effective date of registration.

More Important Points:

Most applications are effective, the date the copyright office received all of the required elements.

  • A complete copy of your application.Make sure to keep a copy for your record.
  • A non-refundable filing fee
  • A non-refundable deposit

Must be submitted on an acceptable form. You can download these forms from: www.copyright.gov

It would seem in USA registration is not required for copyright and it seems that way for most countries under the Berne Convention. However, in the USA registration has implications if one wishes to take legal action. And there is more ...

William thank you for you feed back. I 'll wrote a couple of books and I am not to sure if I want to go the tradition way or self publish. Actually, I am seeking for solutions. Most definitely I am looking for the cheapest route. By the way I really appreciate your follow.
