How to Get Rid of Pirated Articles

So you decide you want to get rid of the article from the thief's site.

  1. Contact The Site Directly:

Some people are actually ignorant of copyright issues and a simple e-mail or comment will often be enough to remove the offending article or have it corrected.

In this case I left a comment on the post asking for the article to be reinstated and that otherwise it was blatant plagiarism. I was not surprised to see that after a few days my comment had not been approved. The article was still there BUT the posting date had been changed to February 2011 (my original article was published early August 2011). Now that meant WAR

  1. If that fails then find out who the site is registered to. Simply go to to whois.com, do a whois search and this sort of thing pops up

You can see that the domain was actually not set up until late August 2011 so the post could not have been made in February!

You can see that the registrar is GoDaddy so if you go to them and at the bottom of their page you will find a 'report spam' link. Follow that and just fill in the form that opens up. So far I have heard absolutely nothing from them. Not even an automatic response!

Time to take it to the next level:

  1. Lets hit them below the belt -Report it to Google!

Thanks for the heads up, will keep it in mind, have not had to deal with something like that yet, but who knows!
