Handy plugins to know about.
Does to many plugins slow down your Website?

I am told it does, sometimes. I guess you would just have to check the speed from time to time.

Hi Shane

some say that but really it is not the amount of plugins but the quality of the coding within the plugins that creates issues not just for speed but some can clash with other plugins due to this poor quality in coding.
I have 19 plugins on both my sites and have fast speed

You are welcome of course if you can use less all the better some know proper coding and can add this there without the need of a plugin but again if the coding is bad or incorrect it will still create problems.
That is why for most of us using plugins is easier.
Enjoy the rest of your week

A lot of plugins can slow it down, but some plugins slow it down more than others, I always get a lecture from my hosting companies about SEO plugins slowing things down.

I am not big on SEO I think you can go over the top on site speed and render your site experience useless, by reducing all your plugins, not having certain widgets ETC.

I had a client who was SEO mad yes he got the site speed up to 1.5 seconds load time, but to me, it no longer looked like a website, more like a google doc.

You can, of course, use the site speed measuring tool GTMetrix to check site loading time if you are that way inclined and turn all your plugins off, then activate them one at a time and see what difference it makes to your site loading time.

You can also reduce image sizes, or have your main URL only point at one post or page instead of your last 5 or 10 blog posts which will also speed it up.

I tend to share my stuff all over social media so do not worry if the post ranks or not for Google SEO, as I can use social networks and my mailing list to get views to my posts or pages anyway.

And like Andre says you could become a coder and code your site without plugins, definitely not something I am planning on doing in the near future. I go to a Wordpress Meeting Every month and often it talks about this stuff.

It's kind of like wanting a BMW 7 series top of the range and learning what metal to put in the wheel nuts and how to mold them.

Of course, it is something that needs to be done, It's just I will not be the person doing it. Give me ready-made Wordpress Themes or plugins any day. :-)
