ranking means what
What Jerry said is correct. Right now, it would be best to concentrate learning about building up your niche website first.
You'll learn more about ranking towards the end of Course 2 of the Certification Courses, but these courses were designed to help you work on your content, niche market, and website first.
There is no link between your WA ranking and your earnings. WA rankings are an indication of how active you are in this community. Your earnings should be from an entirely different audience, the one you will dedicate your niche to.

What does my ranking number have to do with my earnings?
ranking means what
Thanks for the guidance, everyone. It was a great question and helpful comments. I can see how easy it would be (is!) to become distracted by the welcoming and following, building up the network (a nice thing to do!) and then not have time to work on the website. The network is surely helpful in offering guidance and giving support, though.
In fact, what would I do without the network? I would still be stuck on that first stumbling block that I got help with so easily, I guess. As with all things, the balance is important. For me now, having emphasised the networking for awhile, it's time to get back to website building. I'll try to play with the two for the best benefits all round. It's a great set-up! Quite visionary, I think!
