Research vs Guess

We often read both in training courses here in WA and elsewhere on the internet that content is king.

We have read it many times from Kyle, Carson or Jay.

We have bought the idea too and try to create the best possible content for our websites.

However, what does better content mean?

• Does it mean writing more than a thousand words per post?

• Does it mean not plagiarizing any text?

• Does it mean to optimize for SEO?

Or perhaps it also means to write with meaning for other people, something that moves them?

Now, if writing quality content also means understanding other people, how do we do this? How do we put ourselves in their shoes? How do we empathize?

One way is to try to "guess" what another person thinks, wants or feels. Imagine being that other person and navigate their thoughts. Difficult and risky.

The other way is to really "investigate" what other people want. How?

• Asking them directly through a survey, questionnaire!

• Through what they tell us in their comments

• Through what they ask in various specialized forums or other posts, etc.

Good points, going to Yahoo Answers and Quora gives you hints on what are the popular questions out there. Great insights, Tommy.

Good sources too! Thanks!

Great, thanks for sharing.

You're welcome!

An easy way to see what they want or what problems they might want solved is by seeing actual questions they have about different products on Amazon. Once you see a common theme or concern that's being asked or something needed to be solved, you can create content based on the solution.

That's an excellent point!

Good post, agree with first learn below, niche forums would be a god idea.

I agree too Edwin!

I believe forums specific to your niche is a very good place to look for the questions that need answering.

Providing it is a forum that allows links you could gain many visitors with the right post.

Derek

I agree with you Derek; forums are great places to know what people are interested in, besides some of them allow you to insert your link so people highly targeted can come to your site and convert right away!

Good thoughts and insights Tommy, asking what it is folks are looking for can be one of the best things we can do for sure.

Yes Alex, it is! :)

thank you for the thought there Tommy, I was toying with that idea of putting up a survey so I can gauge what people are interested in.. Might check that out again!!...You are on the right direction, keep asking and keep looking ....wishing you well

Thanks Gus, good idea on doing that survey!

Always research!

Absolutely!

Great post. I've got a new post coming out on my site precisely based on a recurring theme in people's comments on some of my other posts. Great way to connect and provide better and more relevant service. :-)

Cheers,

Norman

Thanks Norman. I'll be aware of your coming post!

The best way to write good content is to think like a customer and not like a writer.
