Being too self-critical
It is healthy to realize the mistakes we make in our work, which allows us to maintain optimal quality in what we do, and, in the results, we deliver to others.
However, being self-critical, it goes from right to wrong when it is carried out in excess.
• When we see imperfections in everything we do
• When we frequently stop to see if what we are doing is well done
• When we discard the work done because it is below what we can afford
• When we always see flaws and are unable to find good things in our work
• When we compare our work and abilities with others
The problem with being overly self-critical is that it stops us in our activities and learning. It is self-sabotage to our full potential.
What if we do things better without so much criticism, as if we were shaping a piece of clay to which we are giving shape, not which we want perfect from the start?
If we dare to make mistakes, the learning that we obtain from it will result in committing less of those errors every day.
If on the contrary, we pretend that things are perfect from the beginning, they never will be!

You are right on the nose, and I'm so glad that other people I've been communicating with lately are getting the same idea. I found that meditation has helped to balance me out. I do it every day. We are too caught up chasing "happiness." What we need more than anything, I think, is self-acceptance and self-love (which is not the same as loving one-self in the negative way, it's respecting yourself and patting yourself on the back for a job well done.) And yes, we tend to criticize ourselves way more than we sometimes criticize other people. I find it difficult to praise myself, yes. So, thanks for posting!
Hi Tommy, mistakes are there to point you in the direction to where you should be headed, they are like signposts on your way to your goal, when you hit that negative sign you stop and readjust your focus..most important..keep moving...if you stop too long you stagnate and you will move backwards...once you have gone past you let that negative feeling go..practice daily and you will get it.
Another great post! We need to stop beating ourselves up and be more creative and productive!
Thank you!
