Do You Have A Personal Growth Mindset?

In 2005 I joined the Rail Industry as a Technician and after a couple of years I enjoyed the job, and I was comfortable in the position. I knew what was expected of me, my Line Manager was good, and I considered my colleagues to be my friends. Life was pretty good as a 23 year old.

Another six months passed and I became a clock-watcher. The 3.30 p.m. countdown became a daily routine, and, by Wednesday each week, I had the Friday feeling. I wanted more excitement and challenge: the norm wasn’t doing it for me anymore, and I needed something to change!

I wasn’t expecting a promotion of some kind or even a pay rise. I just needed to re-think what I wanted in my life and where my career was headed.

I spoke to my Line Manager and get some guidance and after a lengthy discussion he agreed to fund my degree in Engineering. This was what I needed, a chance of further education that would further my career.

I had figured out that I was responsible for my career satisfaction. I started working on myself and my own personal growth and I found out that if I do the same thing today as I did yesterday, the results are likely to be no different tomorrow.

You have to be proactive, take charge and change the way you think about your career. When you take control, you will realise that the only way you‘ll achieve what you want, personally or professionally, is to think about where you want to go, put a plan in place to get there, and then take action and work the plan.

Personal Growth Planning is a structured way of doing just that.

• First, you need to set meaningful goals.

• Next, you define these goals in terms of what you want to achieve and the steps you need to take to get there.

• Finally, you identify gaps in your skills and experience, and you create an action plan to fill them, so that you can move towards your end goal.

Now that I have setup and started my own Affiliate Marketing Business here at Wealthy Affiliate, I am going to apply the exact same attributes to my new career as above.
