Knock Out the New Year's Resolution: Live in the Present

Okay, this is it, only a few hours left in 2018, so we're making those 2019 New Year's Resolutions, right?

Stop, stop, stop, stop, and stop.

Don't make the resolution.

I'm not being negative with this post, I'm being real.

How many New Year's Resolutions have you made?

How many have you stuck out until December 31st?

Don't say this year will be different as you had the previous ten years.

Perhaps the New Year's Resolution doesn't work for everyone.

But that's okay!

Again, I'm not being negative; I'm being real.

And by being real, I'm telling you that you will achieve your 2019 goals BUT....live in the present.

Don't make the New Year's Resolution.

Make a DAILY resolution.

When you wake up each morning and attack the day, make a list of what you're going to do that day.

Yes, it's great to have long-term, annual goals and by all means set them.

But that's where too many people go wrong.

They make long-term goals but for some strange reason they neglect the ever so important short-term goal.

What's a long-term goal without a short-term goal?

Make your short-term goals.

I want to see a daily goal from each of you. Make that daily goal and again, make a list of those daily goals.

Did you do that yet?

It means January 1st 2019 is just another day, no different than December 31st 2018.

Now, go a little further.

Each Sunday or Monday, or whichever day your work week begins (I know people whose Tuesdays and Wednesdays are their weekends), make a weekly goal. Just one will suffice.

Make a monthly goal.

Make a quarterly goal.

Make a bi-annual goal.

Now that you've made the following:

365 daily goals, a list will be even better.

52 weekly goals.

12 monthly goals.

4 quarterly goals.

2 bi-annual goals.

Okay, now you're ready for the ultimate ANNUAL GOAL!

I can guarantee you that you'll find success much easier in 2019 if you simply embark on creating short-term goals in favor of just one, huge annual goal that 90% of people at minimum crash and burn on.

Maybe you want to make $52,000 this year.

Okay, great.

Make a daily goal for that $52,000.

That's $200/day.

$1,000/week.

$4,333.33/month.

$13,000/quarter.

$26,000/six months.

$52,000/year.

Now, you have a plan in action to make your money.

Or, for your Wealthy Affiliate blogs, perhaps you wish to bring in 15,000 visitors per year?

Again, break it down into each month.

If you don't achieve a goal off the bat, don't sweat it out and DO NOT admit defeat.

Utilize something called selective memory and go from there. Forget the bad, remember the good, and ALWAYS remember that you can always find a better day.

Did you set those short-term goals yet?

Oh, and don't forget to live in the moment. Have a goal for each moment, for each time you sit down and interact with the WA community, or write your next awesome blog post. For every action, have a goal, and 2019 will be your year.

Big welcome, Sir! Just trying to motivate the masses both here and all over the world!

Great post thanks for the share. A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AND ALL THE BEST

Thank you. Happy New Year to you, too!

Well said! Thanks for sharing. I’ve been writing down daily goals so I stay on track. It helps me not feel scatter brained and focus on what I need to get done. Goals are a must in my book. :)

Happy New Year!
Renee

I'm the same way. Back when I started hitting hard on goal setting I decided to make a daily itinerary of what I wanted to accomplish. It helped me create a habit and accomplish small tasks daily which led to larger ones down the road.

I love that! 👍

Good suggestions. Yes, I do have long-term goals, but on each day, I write down the specific things I need to accomplish that day. It is a good way to keep yourself accountable.

Yep, I can relate. I have my one to two long-term, but I always focus on my daily, weekly, and monthly goals more than anything else. They'll lead me right to the long-term goal.
