"Earth has shifted"-Inuit elders issue warning to NASA and the world!

I saw this article in Indian Life Magazine and thought it was interesting, then tried to vet it, but was getting all sorts of varying information, some concurring, some not, just all over the place. Below is directly from the article. Any thoughts?

"Inuit elders say the earth has shifted, tilted or as they put it, "wobbled" to the north and they all agree "Their sky has changed!" They say it is becoming increasingly hard to predict the weather, something that is a must in the Arctic.

The Inuits are indigenous people that inhabit the arctic regions of Canada, the United States and Greenland and throughout history their very lives have been dependent on being able to correctly forecast weather.... and they are warning NASA and the world that global warming isn't the cause of what we are seeing with extreme weather, earthquakes and other events.

Inuits believe their lives have been affected by a shift. The elders who were interviewed across the north all said the same thing, their sky has changed. The stars, the sun and the moon have all changed affecting the temperature and even affecting the way the wind blows. It is becoming increasingly hard to predict the weather, something that is a must on the Arctic.

The earth has shifted, tilted or as they put it, "wobbled" to the north and they all agree "Their sky has changed!"

The elders maintain the Sun doesn't rise where it used to, they have longer daylight to hunt and the Sun is higher than it used to be and warms up quicker than before. The elders who were interviewed across the north all said the same thing, their sky has changed.

The stars the Sun and the Moon have all changed affecting the temperature, even affecting the way the wind blows, it is becoming increasingly hard to predict the weather, something that is a must on the Arctic.

The elders all agree, they believe the Earth has shifted, wobbled or tilted to the North.

In an article in The Big Wobble Almanac, and in a video, we see some of the extreme weather events being attributed to this "wobble."

In the article it states that NASA scientists and experts are "worried" by the information the Inuit Elders are providing for them."

The Earth does wobble on its axis. It's called axial precession and it takes 26,000 to complete a cycle. When you factor continental drift into this, different generations will experience different skies. HOW different and over what period of time I don't know.

The Inuit people in the article you linked to don't say how different the sky is or how far things have shifted from their perspective. I do know that a changing sky is inevitable with enough passage of time.

Axial precession and continental drift will also have big impacts on the climates of those regions but they wouldn't be significant within a single generation.

Thanks Steve for weighing in- And for those of you out there that are not familiar with Axial precession-
The Earth's axis rotates (precesses) just as a spinning top does. The period of precession is about 26,000 years.
Therefore, the North Celestial Pole will not always be pointing towards the same star-field.
Precession is caused by the gravitational pull of the Sun and the Moon on the Earth.

I agree with them, things are different and I believe them when they say the poles shifted ages ago....wasn't that their reasoning for the frozen mammoths with undigested food in their stomachs....so if that's true then maybe it's happening again.......You always share such cool and interesting stuff, thanks Tom

Thanks Juli- I tend to believe the american native traditions and stories as well. I have more posting soon!

The Earth's magnetic poles have reversed around 70 times since the Earth formed but that in itself wouldn't have any climactic effects. Your compass would now point in the opposite direction but that's about it :)

Yes, very interesting. Shirley

Wow! Very interesting, indeed. I had not heard of this before. I appreciated some of the comments below, too.

This is a new one to me. I thought I had heard most of them by now. Thanks. By the way, I lived in Alaska almost 40 years and frankly I would listen if these are truly Innuit elders. However, the Innuits and the Yupiks have a great sense of humor, so beware. Wouldn't be the first time scientists have been fooled by them or some of the other groups in Alaska.

Hi Richard and thanks for chiming in. Do you know anything more about this?

Hello Tom....please keep these interesting articles coming.

Hi Paul will do-This one however is a bit disturbing even for me.

Well this one really blows a hole in all the global warming naysayers.

You bet Chris!

I'm not a NASA scientist but it has been known for many years that the Earth's axis, which is nominally at 23.4° from true perpendicular is decreasing by about 45" each century. It is believed that this change in axis is the cause of weather changes throughout the Earth. I don't doubt that the Inuit indigenous people are seeing a change in the sky, but I think scientists would say that the change has occurred over several years, not in just a year or two. It is something to be concerned about as Artic and Antarctic ice is melting at greater amounts each year. In fact there are low elevation islands that were out of the water a few years ago, are now covered with water. This is something to be concerned about.

Interesting blog

Hi Larry- Do you know anything more on this subject- Do our astronomers know more than what they are saying or not saying?

Scientists, astronomers, and especially government officials always know more than what they are saying. Haha..

Interesting. A friend in Washington DC, who loves to watch the night skies has said the same thing. Do you have a link to the article (if it is online)?

That happened in 2011. The UK issued information pamphlets about it. Our own sterling government has prohibited our meteorologists (licensed by it) to disseminate this information. That's why you never hear about it.They're afraid of universal panic and gives a good indication of what we're thought of in governmental circles.

Since then there have been a couple of catastrophic earthquakes that have knocked the planet around a little more - explaining - if you will listen - the strange weather we've been having.

Every meteorologist knows this. Every transcontinental pilot knows this. Every sailor on the bridge knows this. After forty years working in aerospace, I know it. What are our betters trying to hide from us?

Hi Werner- Do you know any more on this subject, or where I can get some real verifiable information?

Call the head of the Astronomy department at your local University. This being kept under wraps, needlessly in my view.

Hi Werner- I will do that. There is GTCC right down the street from me and they allow the public to make use of their telescope and have access to some of their astronomy teachers.
