Checking your site on Mobile

Hiya, Am new here...

I have however worked with Wordpress for quiet awhile. When seraching for a good theme, you can use the "feature filter" to specify certain features that you desire in your theme, for example, two columns, custom logo, custom header, and the color blue could be your specifications.

I have not found a feature filter for making sure your theme is mobile friendly. There are however plugins that can assist with this (I haven't used one myself so can't give advice on that aspect).

So my biggest tip is to open your smartphone's browser(s) and take a gander at your website. As well if you have different browser app's installed on your smartphone, be sure to look at your website with all of them. Make changes as needed.

For instance, I am creating a new website here and did this test last night. I found that my list of pages (which are button tabs at the top of my navigation) did not show up at all on the mobile version. I could have changed themes, but just got my logo to where it matched the site perfectly.

My solution? I simply dragged the pages widget onto the sidebar. What this did was list my pages with all of my categories and recent posts at the bottom of the mobile browser, which looked very nice. When people visit my site on their mobile browser they go straight to seeing my logo and reading my article, as they scroll down they will see my advertising (WA) banner, and my list of pages, my categories of posts, as well as the titles of my recent posts.

So hope this helps some newbies... OR,,, you can just READ the theme and see if it's mobile friendly LOL!
