Today I want to post several quotes and inspirations, none of which are mine. But they are inspirations that have touched me at some point in my journey of sobriety, so I want to post them hoping they will do the same for someone else~Timo~

Good Evening 🙏☕️🌞

“be renewed in the spirit of your minds” - Ephesians 4:23

“I must learn to open my mind as well as my eyes.” - Lincoln, Rhode Island, July 1992

“I continue to attend AA meetings because anything I know about recovery seems to have a shelf-life of 72 hours.” - Providence, Rhode Island, March 2009

"Recovery is something like the restoration of a very old painting, covered over by layers and layers of darkening, distorted varnish ... Not all of the underlying pattern can be revealed at one time. What is uncovered, bit by bit and layer by slow, careful layer, are the things which are necessary and appropriate for me to know about myself right now." - Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, August 1992

“We realize we know only a little. God will constantly disclose more to you and to us.” - Alcoholics Anonymous, pg.164

“Most emphatically we wish to say that any alcoholic capable of honestly facing his problems in the light of our experience can recover, provided he does not close his mind to all spiritual concepts. He can only be defeated by an attitude of intolerance or belligerent denial.” - Alcoholics Anonymous, pg.568

“Dear Friend,

Do you know what a marvelously kind person you are? Inside of you is an unlimited well of kindness waiting to be called on. And outside are limitless opportunities to bestow your gift of kindness. Our stay here on earth may well be measured by such acts. Some suggest that without acts of kindness, there would be no record that we ever existed. Today, let us consider what role we could play in improving the lives of others.

Before we venture forth, let us sit quietly with our Higher Power. Allow the wall of self to gradually dissipate and enjoy the joy and freedom of knowing that we are not in charge. Allow the loving energy of our spirit to be activated. Realize that our plans for the day will be best accommodated by placing our will and our lives in the hands of God. The more energy we expend in the interests of others, the more energy we will be given.

All through the day, think of the word “kind.” Call upon the well within you and see how people are placed in your path perhaps parched from a lack of love. Be the instrument that makes you a channel for the universal message. See how these actions raise you to a level whereby your intuitive nature facilitates every decision required to accomplish your plans for the day. God’s grace makes us more efficient, and it really works! At day’s end, let us sit quietly and look at the power of kindness. Resolve to make it a part of each day. Smile and breath in the loving spiritual reality that is the real you.” - Sandy Beach

“You are a child of God, and always will be, even when you don’t believe it.” - Richard Rohr, O.F.M.

“Fortune favors the prepared mind.” - Louis Pasteur

“Living in this moment is all we really have. We are constantly bombarded with advice to live for the future, but it perpetually exists beyond our grasp like the carrot tempting the donkey. We are told to be mindful of our career paths, to save for the future, and to sacrifice now for later rewards. We put off spending time with our children, but later they are no longer the same children. We postpone seeing friends now and discover later we have lost our relationships.

Of course, we can't be foolish about our future. We need to make some plans and delay some immediate pleasures. But for now, we can only have a rapport with ourselves and others and experience life in this moment. The present is the only time when anything can happen, any change can occur. This moment is like a fresh, cool breeze. The rest exists only in our imaginations or memories.” - Touchstones

“A mind is like a parachute. It doesn't work if it is not open.” - Frank Zappa

“Renewal requires opening yourself up to new ways of thinking and feeling.” - Deborah Day

"new lessons for living were learned, new resources of courage were uncovered, and that finally, inescapably, the conviction came that God does “move in a mysterious way His wonders to perform.” - Twelve Steps & Twelve Traditions, pg.105
