How to make sure Google knows about your website

Hey guys, I've made a bit of content for my website and I can't find it anywhere on Google, even when typing the exact name of my post. I know this is probably because I don't have enough content yet but I thought I should double check that this is the only way to get ranked. I found this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=baAvBVXa9y0
which I think will help your website get ranked (don't worry, you can trust it because it uses proper Google tools!). If you follow the video and Google says no results found (it did with me) then do the Webmaster tool (click on "Try Google Webmaster tools") which shows you how to let Google know about your site. I have done the steps and apparently it takes time before things start to happen, so you need to be patient. Also it would help by making lots of content (like 20 posts or something) and then you will probably get ranked. I just thought using Google Webmaster tools would probably help you get ranked as Google's robots are then more likely to find your site. Anyway I hope this helps!
