How to make sure Google knows about your website
Hey guys, I've made a bit of content for my website and I can't find it anywhere on Google, even when typing the exact name of my post. I know this is probably because I don't have enough content yet but I thought I should double check that this is the only way to get ranked. which I think will help your website get ranked (don't worry, you can trust it because it uses proper Google tools!). If you follow the video and Google says no results found (it did with me) then do the Webmaster tool (click on "Try Google Webmaster tools") which shows you how to let Google know about your site. I have done the steps and apparently it takes time before things start to happen, so you need to be patient. Also it would help by making lots of content (like 20 posts or something) and then you will probably get ranked. I just thought using Google Webmaster tools would probably help you get ranked as Google's robots are then more likely to find your site. Anyway I hope this helps!

You can install a plugin called "Google XML Sitemaps" and it indexes your site and sends it out to the search engines every time you update your site. You can search and install it directly through wordpress
Does this definitely work? Does Google "approve" of it? Is it compatible with the All in One SEO pack? I just need to know this information before I go ahead and use it. Thanks!
Yes Tim, please make sure you install this Plugin. It is a must-have when going forward. In addition its not about the number of posts you create that causes your post to be ranked in Google. Even if you had 2 or 3 posts that have a good keyword you can rank for, can easily be found on the first page of Google.
This plugin will essentially allow you to create a sitemap in just a few clicks for your website which is exactly what Google needs! You'll then want to take that cool-contraptions.com/sitemap.xml and insert that into Google Webmaster tools. You will be all set and Google will start to rank your site.
