Finally, am able to publish my 2026 WA Review after hours of trying to solve what turned out to be an easy fix. Honestly… that’s exactly how these bugs get you. The detail hides in plain sight, wearing a perfectly reasonable disguise.
When editing my new Review, it was previewing as the older Review, and checking my site on Google (incognito) the WA Review was bouncing back as 404 (page can't be found)
Whilst trying to fix the issue I did everything right. WordPress just waited until the one fact nobody thinks to mention showed up: page vs post. That’s the trapdoor.
Why this one was especially sneaky
- Drafted page ✔️New Review
- Published post ✔️Older Review
- Same slug ✔️ Both Reviews
- Preview looked fine ✔️New Review
- Live view was haunted 👻 New Review

When the real culprit is WordPress quietly saying:
“Pages outrank posts. Always. No exceptions.” note: (In WordPress Editor)
No warning. No UI hint. No mercy.
The good news (and it’s real)
Now that it’s fixed:
- ✅ Canonical URL is clean
- ✅ Google will index the right content
- ✅ Microsoft updated naturally
- ✅ Affiliate links will actually convert
- ✅ Future edits will behave normally
What I did next (quick wins)
- Updated once more
This nudged caches and confirmed canonical. - Requested indexing in GSC
Now it passes instead of bouncing.
