There is all kinds of scam on the internet. And there is nothing we can do about it. It is like any other thing in the world we do not wish to have. And it might strike you or someone else in your circle sometimes.

But you need to be aware of it and try to avoid it as much as possible. We need to talk about it
and recognize it when it passes by.

Victim of Nigerian scam.

Nigerian scam is also called 419 scams because it refers to the Nigerian Criminal Code dealing with the fraud. The scam is not limited to Nigeria. Other nations are known to have a high incidence of this scam.

The scam has been used with fax and traditional mail and now of course on the internet. There are variations on the scam. Including advanced fee fraud, Spanish Prisoner scam and black money scam.

The main element usually used in any scam involves payment to the victim but the victim needs to send money in order to have some paperwork completed before a transaction can take place.

These scam letters are very well written and convincing. Once the victim's confidence has been
earned, the scammer then introduces a delay or monetary hurdle that prevents the deal from occurring as planned, such as "To transmit the money, we need to bribe a bank official and so on.

Money making chain letters

We have all seen those. They come in all shapes and sizes. Prayer chain letters, Chain love letters and even death chain letters. The only people that earn anything are the ones that start these chain letters.

Lottery scam

This scam will usuallycome in the form of a conventional email message. It will inform you that you
won millions of dollars and congratulate you.

The catch is: before you can collect your “winnings”, you must pay the “processing” fee of several
thousands of dollars.

Phishing emails and phony web pages

This is the most widespread Internet and email scam today. Phishing is where digital thieves
lure you into sending your password through convincing emails and web pages.

These phishing emails and web pages resemble legitimate credit authorities like Citibank, eBay, or
PayPal.

Advanced fees paid for a guaranteed loan or credit card.

If you are asked to pay up-front fee you need to ask yourself “Why would a bank do that”. These scams are obvious to people who take time to have a good look at the offer.

I am not sure whether those HYIP programs out there are scams. When you check them on HYIP monitor, they are always NOT PAYING in most cases. I have involved in a few of them and when you request for withdrawal, you never get it even you contact the support. It is really a bad experiences.
