What a week

Wow what a week it has been here at radio station W7DTG. Blew my back out Sunday afternoon while carrying groceries in from the car, and was unable to support my upper body at all. After a week of heating pads and cold ice it is finally getting to the point where I can sit up again, and maybe get a little work done. Will have to play catch up this weekend on some of my other sites.

Nice to see my radio page ranking a bit better and starting to make a few sales now as I direct more and more people to the excellent Baofeng UV-5R dual band radios that are on the market. These little radios are a great buy and are available for under 50 bucks from Most sites. They have a 2m/440 version available and a 2m/220 version.

Speaking of the Baofeng 2m/220 radios, the seller that I had been pointing people to on Amazon has decided to take them off of Amazon and promote them on his own site instead over at Radio-Mart. I have never had any dealings with the guy that runs this site so I wont spread rumors about him or his website. There is plenty of information available on Google if one wanted more information.

Making a few changes to the home network now, with all of us running Debian Linux which should help the network load a bit more. Before we had to Windows computers here that would really tie the network up and slow everyone down. I converted my Laptop to a dual boot system so now I run Win 7 and Debian. I wanted to save the Win7 partition so if I had a compatibility issue with Linux I could still run Win 7 when needed. So far it has been great and the laptop is much faster. Also converted the XYL over to Debian, and she is loving it so far.

I was not able to get ANY radio work done at all in the ham shack this week I have a Johnson Adventurer and a Hallicrafters S-38E MarkII that I am working on but couldn't get to them with the back giving constant pain. Unable to sit up for long periods of time.

Well thats about it, hope to see you on the airwaves. 73

Sorry about your back, Don! I hope you will be feeling better real soon. Sounds like you still managed to stay busy. Keep using the ice especially. All that Linux stuff went right over my head. :)

not what web site to build

Gosh, am feeling your pain. Think a few of us are on ibuprofen fast acting to get through a couple of hours of sitting. The supine position is not conducive to computer use.
And I haven't seen a ham radio base since my 'walky talky' ranch days when we tracked the rovers. Memories, nice. Thank you.
Hope you get better soon.

wishing you a very quick recovery! ~)
what sort of music & content do you broadcast on your radio station?

I am a ham radio operator. it is a set of frequencies across the radio spectrum that is used for amtaeur radio communnications. It is a fun hobby and I am able to make worldwide contacts.
Doing better, as long as I dont overdue it. Every once in awhile I move the wrong way and get the shooting pains through my back, but overall it is getting better. Not a constant pain anymore. Thank and have a grat weekend.

What a coincidence, I just pulled something today,in my lower back, just getting out of the shower. Took an Ibuprophen, but was still sore. Sat and visited outside with my neighbors, and after an entire bottle of wine, I feel much better, unfortunately, now I just want to go to bed, or maybe that's a good thing. Went to the dentist yesterday, got stitches and Vicodin, don't really need it for the dental thing, but I may end up taking one before the morning. It's so weird, just a little twist the wrong way, and you're out of commisssion. Anyway, I hope you're feeling better in no time, me too.

thanks.. As long I dont move or twist to suddenly it seems to be easing up. Still get the sporadic pain but am able to move now. Not fun at all.
Sorry to hear that you are going through the samee thing, it isnt fun at all. makes it hard to work.

Oh that sounds painful. x

Lots of Ibuprofen (Anti-inflammatory) and Acetamenophen (Tylenol) seemed to help. The sharp jabbing pain when I moved was the worse, and constantly feeling tight and uncomfortable in any position meant I was laying down more than usual. Doing A lot better now though, as it is starting to ease up. Thanks Jackie

I'm a fan of ibruprofen x
