Do you Need a Personal Trainer still in 2020?
Why do people pay for a Personal Trainer ?
The Quick Fix
So why do people pay for a personal trainer? Many people employ me as their trainer expecting to get in the 'shape of their lives' after a month. It doesn't really work like this. All I can do is provide you with the tools, resource and guidance to push you toward your goal. The effort has to come from the client, the trainer can't do the exercise for them.
Novices to the gym environment
People need to start somewhere I guess. Many people walk into a gym and don't really know what is what. So they employ trainers immediately due to the intial scare of not understanding how anything works. It can be really helpful having someone next to them walking them along the way.
Maximising Potential
Lot's of people get to the point where they struggle to get much further in their progress. So sometimes it takes a professional to re-audit their programme and optimise their workouts to push them further.
Do these People really need a PT?
The Unnecessary Expense
There are so many routes you can take now to improve your fitness and further your education of the different components which make a gym. You could pay the £30 per week which the majority of my clients do, this is one route. However, there are others much cheaper.
For instance, the Lifestyle Training Club offers over 30 workouts which catagorises them into different niches. They even provide coaching modules teaching people how to make their own programmes. It's only the price of a Starbucks coffee per month and it's got a 20 day trial included too.
The Trainer Quality
The honest but unfortunate news is, that a lot of trainers aren't good at their jobs and they lack little knowledge. You can become a qualified trainer literally in a month. You take 4 basic tests and you are perceived as a expert. I can tell you this as I was qualified within a month. Luckily, I have a lot of experience from my time in football with sport scientists. But if I didn't have that experience, I would lack a lot of knowledge myself.
Guys, don't pay for personal trainers unless you know the person and they trust you. It is an over-priced service. This is an authentic answer from a personal trainer here.
