Slow down or you'll be late!
My commute this morning wasn't bad because kids are currently on Winter Break. Instead of bumper to bumper for miles on all 6 lanes, we were able to do about 20 miles or so an hour.
As always, I tuned in to the traffic channel to get the latest traffic info.
Just as the traffic reporter announced a major traffic slowdown a few miles ahead, I managed to slam on the brakes just in time to avoid a collision with a driver who suddenly pulled right in front of me from my right. Little shocked but nothing serious as I've seen this many many times before.
But this driver didn't stay on the same lane. Seconds later, without signalling, the driver suddenly cut the person on the left causing him to slam on the brakes just like I did a few seconds ago. This is reckless driving, I thought.
Reckless and dangerous as this driver did it again, and again, and again, cutting left and right through lines of moving traffic and even drove on the shoulder lane.
Then I heard the traffic reporter saying that wet road surface had caused major traffic problems and that motorists must drive carefully and slow down. He said: "slow down or you'll be late."
I heard what he said but didn't really pay attention.
After stopping and going and stopping and going for about 15 minutes, I noticed a police car on the shoulder lane with flashing light on. When I got closer, I recognized the car in front of the police cruiser. It was the reckless driver that cut through lanes to move a head of other drivers. I recognized the car.
Then I heard the reporter on the radio saying again: "Please slow down or you'll be late."
This time it caught my attention. Now it made sense. The reckless driver that was pulled over by the police for sure will be late to wherever he/she needed to be.
But then I thought this "slow down or you'll be late" warning could very well apply to my own online businesses.
Sometimes it's very tempted to jump from program to program looking for shortcuts to success.
When that happens, I'll be sure to remember the traffic reporter's warning: "Slow down or you'll be late" because there's always traffic jam on the highway to success.
Merry Christmas!

Excellent comparison. I love that there are metaphors for every aspect of life in our everyday experiences. Merry Christmas to you too!
Thanks for the comment erashallbe! Since joining WA, I've been trying to look for ways to find ideas to write about. My 2 and a half hours daily commute seems to be an excellent source for ideas.

On a serious note, we were recently warned about an insurance scam with drivers who pulled in front of cars forcing them to either break suddenly or hit them. They are claiming huge amounts from insurance companies for road traffic accidents and whiplash injuries.
So that is another reason to slow down, be constantly aware or you could be late yourself, for a while. Lis.
Thanks Lis, for the warning. I'll be extra careful.
No problem. Lis.
