The Amazing News June 29th Early Edition

Morning everyone, it is 0230 Monday June 29th.

I did not post yesterday because I was a bit busy catching up after returning from my pop up trip.

One thing I never miss is lunch. While eating at a local cafe, I overheard a conversation about repossessions. A local repo guy was complaining he has been unable to find several vehicles because the owners keep moving. Fair points as that does occur.

I asked if he sourced his skip tracings or if he did it himself. When his reply was, and I quote, “ what is skip tracing“ my mouth nearly hit the floor. If you do not know what Skiptracing is, the ability to look at a person, their finances, housing and rental activity and utilities to track movements. Tow truck, tradecraft as I call it. It’s been well over 10 to 15 years since I did it actively.

I convinced the guy to give me the last name the first initial the phone number and the Vin number to the vehicle he’s looking for. I also requested the guy give me his phone number. At 12 o’clock this morning I decided to come out and ran a couple leads that I found on my computer in about five minutes.

Apparently, this person is behind about three months on payments from a used car lot. Which is typical, especially this time of year right after tax season when people get their checks, they put a huge down payment down and then quit making payments.

Anyway, it took me five minutes to research online , a 25 minute drive, two addresses and a business address to check to locate this vehicle. I just called him and told him where I was. He’s on his way to come pick up the vehicle now after I woke him up.

I’m debating on teaching him how to do it, or writing a ”how to” manual. I’ve already thought of my follow up question for him when he arrives. Would you like me to teach you how to cut a key by the VIN number in five minutes or less? And see how he responds to that.
