Poll: Are AI Comments Killing the Vibe?
Poll: Are AI Comments Killing the Vibe?
Lately, I’ve noticed a flood of AI-generated comments, and honestly, they’re starting to feel like canned soup. Technically fine, but lacking soul.
I'm curious, what do you think?

How do you feel about AI-written comments on your WA blog posts or questions?
🔘 I love them. If they’re helpful, I don’t care who wrote it.
🔘 I don’t mind them, but I prefer real human replies.
🔘 I avoid them like cold coffee. Give me real interaction.
🔘 Wait… some of those comments were AI?
🔘 Did I leave the iron on?
Add your vote, and drop a comment if you’ve got a hot take.
Are we heading toward an era of auto-everything, or is human connection still king around here?
Let’s rant, debate, and maybe laugh a little.

When they're so obviously AI and barely on topic or very vague it's annoying.
I found that this happened a lot on X when creator content and monetization were introduced, much like the points rewards system here now. I really hope the few don't ruin it for the rest of us.
I agree with Howard—well said.
I’ve seen some AI comments that genuinely add to the discussion, and others that feel like auto-pilot “nice post” spam.
It really comes down to intent and effort, whether it's a human or AI. As long as the comment feels thoughtful and adds value, I’m all for it:)
🔘 I don’t mind them, but I prefer real human replies. (My reply to your blog)
Chatbots reply to your blog:
I’ll be honest—I’ve seen both sides of this.
✅ When an AI comment is well-written, relevant, and actually helps move the conversation forward, I’m cool with it. Whether it's human or HAL 9000, value is value.
😑 BUT... when it’s just generic fluff like “Great post! Very informative!”—yeah, that’s when it starts to feel like someone brought a robot to a potluck and didn’t even bring food.
To me, it’s not about who writes it, it’s about how intentional it feels. Real engagement stands out—AI or not.
So am I worried AI is killing the vibe? Not quite. But I do think the vibe deserves to be protected. Let’s use the tech, not let it replace what makes community great: thoughtful, personal connection.
Also... yes, I did just check if I left the iron on. 😅
I prefer the 'native' response. I do use AI to generate an initial comment for some posts (time factor) ; but I always personalize the actual comment that I post. I note that from my own experience that many 'commenters' are similar - and as a rule in general I don't see many comments simply pasted in from AI (so far).

I have seen quite a few AI generated comments and I can spot them a mile off. I'd much prefer someone to genuinely read my article and leave comments based on that rather than an AI comment. However, if people are short of time, I'd prefer them to get AI to summarise the article - read that summary - and then leave a human comment. Will probably take about the same time. Just my thoughts, Michael.
