I’d Like to Object, But the Judge Is Me

Time for the weekly rant where I try to get something off my chest without completely going off the rails.
This one is about the Leaderboards and, more specifically, the way they’re structured.
I am very active here. I talk a lot, post a lot, and I create a whole lot. Sometimes I’m serious, sometimes I’m clearly just messing around, and honestly, this is one of the few times you’ll ever hear me give an objective opinion of myself, so enjoy it while it lasts.
Here’s the issue as I see it.
We have several different types of members here. You’ve got the penny chasers who flood the platform with raw AI copy-paste just to stay “active” and climb in the ranks. You’ve got people trying to teach material they don’t fully understand themselves. You’ve got members who simply talk too much, and I can say that because I am absolutely one of them. And then you’ve got the people who write honest, useful, human blogs from the heart.

In theory, all of those people land on the leaderboard for different reasons. At least they’re supposed to. I’m not fully convinced that’s how it actually plays out.
My real issue is this: newer members often look at the leaderboard and assume rank equals wisdom. Higher rank must mean more experience, more credibility, more knowledge. That’s where I believe more clarification is needed and I think needs further work to balance it properly.
Full disclosure, I know some things. I do not know everything. Not even close. I learn something every day on purpose, whether that’s from training, reading, testing, building, or working through something I don’t understand yet. Sometimes I post about what I’m learning. Sometimes I post about what I’m actively working on. But I’d never want someone to assume that rank alone means I’ve got all the answers, because that’s just not true.
If I had one wish for the leaderboard system, it would be this: explain it better, tweak it to reflect Useful Human activity more accurately, and put some limits on the people who clearly abuse it. Because right now, too much junk can look the same as actual contribution.
And for the record, yes, I’m ranked high, really high, and that was never the goal. It’s just a byproduct of being active. I couldn’t care less about rank or whatever tiny earnings come with it, but I can understand why some people want to move up and bring in some earnings.
I just wish more of them would do it the right way by providing value and no junk posts. Stepping up and connecting on a human level when commenting and staying away from one-word comments and most definitely not with AI sludge that says nothing and helps no one.
This is supposed to be a community. People come here to connect with other people, learn from each other, and build something real. It shouldn’t feel like a contest to see who can game the system with the most robotic activity.
Anyway… rant over.
Good Day!
