If you use the Amazon API, you need to listen up and take notes so you are not left behind. I have recently learned that changes are coming down the pipe that we who use it need to make before the May 15, 2026, deadline. If you use the API, this will definitely affect you.
Below are the changes you need to be aware of.
Key changes:
New API system
- PA API is being phased out
- The Creators’ API will replace it
- Deadline for transition: May 15, 2026
New authentication
- You must generate new API keys in your Amazon Associates account
- Old PA API keys will stop working after the shutdown

Higher sales requirement
- Previous requirement: 1 sale in 30 days
- New requirement: 10 sales in 30 days
- If not met, API access is revoked, and all requests fail
Strict rate limits
- Maximum 1 request per second
- Maximum 8,640 requests per day
- Limits may increase slightly with higher sales volume
Impact on product data
No API access means:
- No product images
- No pricing updates
- No automated product displays
Manual product entry becomes the fallback
Reduced flexibility for large sites
- Frequent price updates will be harder
- Large product lists will consume API limits faster
- High-volume periods (Prime Day, Black Friday) may create issues
Check your email as they are sending them out to all API users. This is an FYI post.
