We all have the potential to resist mental, emotional, or nervous strain, but to actually exercise our potential in resisting such forms of pressure takes a rational soul. So often, we have become what could be considered as half-baked (parts of the ship are suffering from decay) causing certain forces to break through bringing along with it serious injury or a disability towards the development of our soul.

7. Anchor: Is a device, normally made of metal, which is used to connect a vessel to the bed of a body of water to prevent the vessel from drifting due to wind or current.

Representation: To keep hold or be firmly fixed. Immovably, securely, steadily, like a rock, unflinchingly, enduringly, motionlessly.

We must constantly reassure our souls that we will remain anchored to our chosen foundation without feeling threatened by other things we find unfamiliar tossing us two and fro with every wind of doctrine. If we have faith in life and wisdom we become effective vessels to those we come into contact and the situations we face throughout our journey in life.

ANCHOR OF MY SOUL

There's an emblem fair that is known to all, a sign to help us through, it stands for strength
and it stands for right, an Anchor tried and true.

It helps us on our way, our father's knew in days gone by this sign we know today
"Sure and Steadfast” That’s our watch word when trouble and trials are near.

"Sure and Steadfast” In all that we do we'll try to be true to the Anchor that we love.

8. Bow: Is designed to reduce the resistance of the hull cutting through water and should be tall enough to prevent water from easily washing over the top of it.

Representation: The capacity to withstand something. To withstand, strive against, or oppose.

We all get overwhelmed by life but if our (Bow) is tall enough we well be able to resist the things that overwhelm our souls such as anger, resentment, bitterness, self-pity, laziness, procrastination, dependency, guilt, and fear. These are just a few traits that can devastate the soul of an individual. When these traits overwhelm our inner man, they also can keep us from functioning well in the external world with one another.

9. Crow’s nest: In early ships it was simply a barrel or a basket lashed to the tallest mast. Later it became a specially designed platform with protective railing.

Representation: Watching or observing someone or something closely; alert and vigilant.

The act of being alert (constant attentiveness and readiness) must be activated so that what we might think by way of reasoning won't progress in a fashion that is detrimental to our soul. We must be careful how we reason with someone or something because reasoning is so closely identified with the ability to self-consciously change our beliefs, attitudes, traditions, and institutions, which can easily lead our souls astray from its original, unique and authentic course. So in order to reason correctly we need more than a basket or barrel surrounding us just like the crow’s nest we must have a protective railing placed around our souls.

10. Deck: Is a permanent covering over a compartment or a hull of a ship. On a boat or ship, the primary deck is the horizontal structure which forms the 'roof' for the hull, which both strengthens the hull and serves as the primary working surface. Vessels often have more than one level both within the hull and in the superstructure above the primary deck which are similar to the floors of a multi-story building, and which are also referred to as decks, as are specific compartments and decks built over specific areas of the superstructure.

Representation: The ability to resists tension, compression, and racking forces.

According to the Greek Philosopher Aristotle, he says that there are three things that make up the soul:

a. Potentiality (Inherent capacity for growth, development, or coming into existence)

b. Actuality (True existence; reality, a fact or condition that is real)

c. The Combination of both Potentiality and Actuality so as to form a whole

In the development of our soul we should ask ourselves the following questions?

1. Are we ready to move to a new level of awareness (Potential)?

2. Are we ready to move to a new level of consciousness (Actuality)?
