Exchanging purchases in the WA members links directory

Hi all,

Earlier today, member X asked to exchange Amazon purchases. Member X did this because they received word from Amazon that they had not made enough sales. I´m just presuming here that if you don´t make enough sales, Amazon will close your account.

It got me to think though. After all, we exchange comments here too, in the comment thread. And Jaaxy is being promoted at WA as well. We also exchange scam warnings, help, advice, tips, humor, wise words and support.

Then why wouldn´t we exchange purchases. For example, small business owners participating in a barter network, always check to buy a product or a service within their barter network first.

What if WA had an extra page with all the members´ websites listed in alphabetical order per category? Would you check within the WA network first if you wanted to make a certain purchase?

What would be the pro´s and cons?

Happy Sunday,

My suggestion is to advertise you affiliate links with friends you know use the products. Everyone buys from Amazon. You must have one friend in 180 days that will purchase something.

Thanks for the tip, Jim.

Actually, your Amazon Associate account will get banned if you don't make at least one sale in 180 days. But it's not a big deal, you can open a new account in the same day without issue. I did it once (before I get to WA) and it was only 90 days then.

As for the sales exchange thing, all I can say that if it's deemed unethical or unfair, then Site Comments ditto! In other words, that's a good idea!

Hi, Ziane, I like your view on it! But it will have to be done discreetly, without the directory and all. Well, that´s how I understood it from some people´s replies here.

Good to know about the Amazon account, thanks for sharing.

great suggestion

Thanks, Davida, it´s in violation of both Amazon and WA SOT though. So, this kind of business will have to be done inconspicuously, like via pvt msg.

Hi Tessa. Not all members show their sites here. People were steeling content. So this would not be a good idea.

To order something from Amazon you can enter through any link, no need to go through certain category.

But I think Amazon will close account only if you make no sales at all in the first 6 months. If you make only one, you are fine. There were examples of WA members who asked for such a favor, and there were also members who offered such a favor, so this is an easy way, no need for extras. I did not hear that 'enough sales' was an issue, but I could be wrong.

Hi, Jovo, thanks for your comments. Good to know it´s ok to ask for and offer Amazon favors here. Saves a lot of time and energy too, not to have to go through a particular category.

The content stealing thing bothers me a bit. Perhaps I too should remove my websites from my profile here.

See one latest example, in the case you missed

Thank you much, Jovo!

Sounds great in theory, Tessa, but not worth the risk at all. Between Amazon's TOS and the WA TOS (Terms of Service), you'd be in violation of a couple of their regulations. Best to do it organically and ethically. Believe it or not, you can still get there!

Hi, Hal, thanks for mentioning the Amazon and WA rules. Now I can just TOSs the idea!

If somehow Amazon finds out; you will no longer be their associate. Except for that, it sounds great. Lol

Hi, Jean, for a big company as they are, they´re rather nit gritty. But I do see their point cos what if everybody did it like that. Billions less profit in a decade.

These negotiations are best conducted privately after requesting e-mail addresses!

Requesting an email is a violation of the rules here.

Hi, Mike, that´s a good way I think, via pvt msg. But no email!

Thanks, Mel, glad I know this beforehand.

Utilize it through your social groups, if possible,

That could work well. Thanks for your comment, Mike.

Sounds good. :)

Also, Amazon does not allow you to purchase from your own affiliate links, but you can always buy from each other! ;)

Precisely, Gautam, just like teman baik. But via pvt msg!

Who/What is teman baik?

good neighbor(s)

Ah, thanks.

Sounds like 'tashi delek' in Tibetan. :)

It does indeed *s

While this would seem like a good idea on the surface, it's not fair to the membership as a whole. It's basically a violation of the 'spam rules' which prohibit the membership from profiting off one another. That's why there are the no soliciting contact information, etc. rules.

Look at it this way - there are probably dozens of members who offer content creation services - how would you determine which one to use over another? You can't utilize them all, so it would be unfair to promote one over another.

Thanks for your elaborate and sensible comment, Mel.
If I´m ever in doubt about the rules, I´m going to ask you for advice.

I appreciate your confidence in me, I've spent a lot of time discussing the nuances and asking for clarification from Kyle so that I can be helpful.

You have been very helpful, Mel, and I appreciate it lots. And surely I´m not the only one.
