Hi all,.

I was just curious if I could upload and install self bought WP Themes and Plugins? Is there any restriction in these aspects.?

I have purchased some of goo

Yes you can, but you will need a ftp client as far as I know about it. Just make sure you upload it to your theme folder. You can get your access password and username from the " Manage your website" area.

Anyway do have fun and hope to see you around.

Interesting question, I have not gotten this far yet!

Yes you can

Thank you very much bsmith

In short the answer is YES

Barry

Thanks Barry...

I know themes you can, but plugins might be a different story. I'd be interested in what others have to say.

yes Jean... some plugins tend to communicating out of the server where it is installed too many times, clogging the bandwidth with unnecessary traffic, and sometimes cause malfunction.. looks like this is what is prevented..

As far as I can tell, there are no restrictions on installing premium themes on your personally-owned domains.

Some plugins, though, are not permitted on WA's servers. One of those is the Jetpack plugin. Before installing a plugin, I'd suggest opening a support ticket to ensure that the plugin is allowed here.

It's probably not necessary to check with support for *every* plugin. See my later reply below.

Hi Bob,.. thank you very much for the information.
Do you know if there is a list of plugins that are not allowed? Or do we always have to raise a ticket for this matter ?

Sorry, I don't believe that there's any specific list of allowed versus disallowed plugins. Given the sheer number of plugins available and the speed with which new ones get released, maintaining such a list would be a major undertaking.

While most plugins are probably OK, it appears that there are a few that are prohibited here. As I understand, the jetpack plugin hits sites with a large performance penalty. (If you enter the word jetpack in the WA search bar, you'll find a number of posts on that one.) Other plugins that establish heavy connections back to their home servers appear to be disallowed as well.

Hi Bob,.
Looks like this relates to the way the plugin works.
As you know Jetpack is always going to go back to wordpress.org, and this perhaps what want to be avoided.

So I am sure for the stand alone plugin should be ok..
Well to be in the save side probably should consult to support team for their opinion as well..

Thank you ...

I don't think I'd worry about checking on a standalone plugin since those wouldn't create the kinds of connections that cause problems.

Yes Bob... looks like this is the reason why some plugin is not recommended... it could cause issues in the shared server...
