Things Are Moving Along

It's been a few weeks since I joined WA and so far things are moving along really good. I had a blog on Wordpress several years ago, but slacked off after a few months. Back then I was really into reality tv and that's what my blog was about. I had over 16,000 views that year (2009) and I thought that was freaking awesome.

None of my friends were into it, so instead of yelling at my tv, I'd get my frustrations/excitement out on my blog. People seemed to really enjoy it. I even had a cast member from one of the shows I talked about leave a comment. How cool is that?! The blog is still up and I haven't written on it in years. It's still getting views as well.

Now that I've gotten my mojo back I'm going to take what I'm learning here on WA and kick things up a notch. So far, I've created my site with a few blog posts, and I've been learning lots of new things from the certification courses. My goal is to post at least once a day or every other day.

One thing that I've noticed from checking out other blogs is that people write extremely long posts. I get bored half way through most of them and head on to the next thing. I like to get straight to the point and move along. Are long posts necessary? I'm going to do what feels natural for me. What are your thoughts?

The thing is Google changes the way it views things and at the moment, content is very much King and posts of around 1500 words are viewed very favorably. But try to break them up with white space and pictures between so that the reader doesn't get bored and can speed read through important bits.

Ok I will keep that in mind. Seems like allot, but if I'm writing about something I like, it shouldn't be a problem. Thanks!

JudeP, that sounds like good advise. I will keep it in mind for when I am ready for that step.

Hi Tiffany. I am new to WA, but old in world experience and I can tell you that most people get bored easily. Unless your blog/post or whatever is truly riveting I would recommend you keep it relatively short. More is not necessarily better in this case. Just my 2 cents. Best of luck!

Thanks for the feedback. I'm new as well and I know if I get bored with long content my audience might feel the same. I like to keep it short and to the point.
