Google is increasing putting pressure on sites to be https compliant. They are saying that it will be harder to be hightly ranked on Google without an https site. Why is wa no

Where did you read that paypal require https? I'm guessing it was the recent update, which only applied to people using a specific aspect of the paypal API, not general users. It defeats the purpose of sending people to paypal if they make you use https.

:-)) thank you honey xoxo

I read it on the paypal plug-in page. The wordpress plugins use that feature. So if you want to install a plugin that will accept paypal payments, you need to have an https hosting site.

Yes but that doesn't mean you can't use paypal. It just means if you want to take paypal payments on your site, you need to. But most people use their plugins to and paypal payments to redirect to a secure paypal page. If you've paid for something with paypal in the last few years, you'll know the page I mean. You get directed there, you login to paypal, then after you get redirected back to the original site.

I process 30 to 50 thousand dollars per month via paypal so know that it's perfectly fine to do so without https.

Wow! You collect 50 thousand a month on your WA site! That's fantastic.
I haven't seen any WA sites that accept paypal yet so I'm very interested to see how you do it. I thought it was impossible to use paypal here.
I'll immediately go check out your site!
Thanks.

I just checked out your website listed on your profile page and it's https. It's not even on WA. Why is that if you say that https is not important? I am really confused now.

I didn't bring my website up because it's not relevant in this case. I have https because after people buy from me, they need to use one of my contact forms to submit their personal information to me, so in this case, I need https to keep their info secure. This is nothing to do with ranking higher or taking paypal payments. I only added https about a month ago.

Hey (DomW) honey , thank you for explaining this it makes total sense to me now :-))) xoxoxo you are a STAR xox I have just bought EasyAzon4 and the two extra plugins.........yay....really looking forward to using them xoxoxo hope you are well xoxo any tips for me......

Alsso i was wondering if you knew how i switch from allinone seo to yoest....i cant find anything to show me how to do it properly.....can you help me.....i want to switch before i load in the amazon plugins .............if you get my drift.........

PS i know there is training on installing yoast, but i cant find anything on switching to yoast....xoxox HOpe you can help me xoxo

Hey Dom, i was wondering if maybe you could help another person out for me please her name is nothando1 and she is stuck with she said she is still working on it .......can you have a look at the question for me please ....please ...xoxox Tania

It's because it is important it's one of the Google ranking factors if you don't have https:// Then you won't rank to the first page of Google

I just heard this from a source that's saying it's confirmed, we just didn't realize that wa doesn't have that by default

It's a very minor ranking factor. Getting to page one without https is more than possible.

Did you ask suppport and what did they say? xoxo

Tammy I don't know if that is in the plan or not. I do know as you say it is not available now. perhaps Carson will weigh in on this.

It has little effect except the inability to accept c.c.and is actually another added expense.

WP Express is already HTTPS enabled and to ask people to be be able to understand the process to build their sites would be too big a learning curve they would give up before they started.
WP Express is ideal as it is just now and no need for https.
Robert

But there is no difference in building your site on an http or https web server for the building person. I have sites on both kinds of hosting sites. There is nothing to learn.
What I was talking about was the WA web hosting and yesterday's AMA with the Google rep where it said..
"HTTPS Adoption
Illyes said that 34 percent of the Google index is now HTTPS — which is a very big growth trend for HTTPS. He also strongly recommended that webmasters consider migrating their websites from HTTP to HTTPS sooner, rather than later.
Those are my key takeaways from last night’s AMA with Google’s Gary Illyes."
I read things like this a lot in SEO articles. This is what is keeping me from a yearly subscription to WA. I wish they would change over.

Hey honey, if we were to have a site not with Wa hosting what is the likely hood that it would be https and would we have to change anyting in our theme etc if we were to transfer a site from wa to anohter? and what hosting platforms are https ready? can you help me as this is the first i have heard of it xoxoxoxo thank you xoxo

Hi, for example, I also have a site on bluehost and that is https. I transferred a site here from shopify and that was https also. There was nothing for me to other than just copy and paste from my old hosting site to here. But I don't really like bluehost because it's slow. Shopify is fast but I like all the resources here more. I just wish it were https. Then Google would be happier indexing my site and I could also accept credit cards if I wanted to branch out.
I'm in a dilemma!

so without https you cant accept cc payments? surely there must be a plugin for that somewhere......do you know about transfering a HTTP to somewhere else that is HTTPS what would need to be done etc xoxxoxo thanks hun, sorry having dumb moment xodxo

You can't take in any sensitive information because the connection is not secure. So no matter what kind of plug in, it would be dangerous for people to submit credit card numbers.

I've seen some websites by WA people on shopify that they use for sites where they can accept credit cards but it's kind of expensive to maintain both shopify and WA accounts.

OMG....so is it safe to put paypal or things like that on HTTP ...........time YOU did a blog on this me thinks :-)) xoxox

You can't use paypal either unfortunately. They require https.

write a blog post? maybe I should:)

I was sure i saw someone here saying that they were using a paypal for people to pay :-) will try to find it .......that is a real shitter if that is the case. xoxo

oh, that's interesting. Please do find out!

This is what I found on paypal website:
PayPal is upgrading all external endpoints used by merchants and partners to make programmatic connections. One of these changes is only allowing the use of HTTPS when connecting with PayPal systems to ensure that all information is securely transmitted. IPN messages contain sensitive information about your customers and their transactions that should only be passed securely.

Okay, that message re paypal website is really interesting. i have found the following plug-ins which say thy are safe too...have a look will you and let me know a i will want them further down the road too

xoxox

we can't use those plugins.
On the plugin pages they say:
PayPal Standard in WooCommerce core uses Instant Payment Notification (IPN) and has been updated with PayPal’s announcement to https for added security.
What Do You Do? Ensure that your host supports HTTPS connections through CURL/fsockopen using TLS 1.2 or newer certificates. Your system status page in WooCommerce will tell you if there are any problems connecting. Contact your host to fix that if needed.

and our host does not support https so we can't use paypal at all

That is really interesting........right,....maybe you should put a question out there and ask what system / plugin people are using to accept payment of their goods/services? or i will do it for you if you want me too ?

okay right !! found two people who are using paypal......one is
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/steveolan steve uses paypal on his dog site. I told him you wanted it on your site and he said you can PM him too

and the other is
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/onmyownterms
he says that we are running on https and http and i am really confused so he said for me to get you to PM Him,

will you let me know please honey how you get on xoxoxox xoxox

You can already accept credit cards, people can pay you via paypal with credit cards, and you do not need https for this.

You only need https if you handle customer data, such as passwords, credit card info, and so on.

YAY :-))

Ok, thanks everyone. I guess I'll just stop worrying about https and trust everything will work out ok with my SEO in the end~

Yeah, i think DomW knows his stuff and we can trust what he says honey xoxoxoxo

How are you doing today ? dxoxox

Hi, I've opened a support ticket and they're looking into it. Hopefully it gets sorted out because I like to create sites on the free platform first and then move them so this problem could happen to me often.

I'm thinking that this is probably an unusual, if not a rare, occurrence.

If this were happening frequently, I'd expect that somebody at some time would have deleted their siterubix site and had all of the images on their site instantly disappear.

good to hear that hun, keep us posted wont you :-))

Thanks a lot for checking it out. I'll do that.

Hey honey, did you get sorted...BobBarr is on the money there ? keep us posted :-))

If you used the siterubix "Move" function, the entire image gallery should have been transferred over to your new site making any redirect links unnecessary.

I just checked your inflatables site and found that your image links are incorrectly referencing the siterubix domain.

src="http://justinflatablesups.siterubix.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/paddling-700x466.jpg">

It appears that something went very wrong with the site transfer. I'd suggest opening a support ticket to get the situation investigated and resolved.

Can I do an automatic language detection and then another choice menu in the menu bar? Should I set up a subdomain? Should I just use two domains and make 2 separate sites? Wha

Google translate works very poorly in Korean so I really need two pages for each page: 1 in English and 1 in Korean. I have done the googling but I was wondering if anyone here at WA has experience in doing this with a wordpress plugin or other method so I could pick their brain about it. Thanks.

google has a 'should i translate this page option...... so I'd set up a site in the language I was most comfortable with, anyone who speaks a different language has the option to have it translated to their language. :)

Tammy here is some information from google that might help with your decision. You will need to take the space out of the URL
