Finally Getting Off The Porch

Last Update: June 23, 2019

I am beside myself... I'm finally ready to get off the porch and run with the big dogs. Today I chose my niche and made the decision to just Go For It... I joined the WA community as a Premium Member and I'm off...

Choosing a niche turned out to be one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. It sounded so easy, but would inevitably stop me dead in my tracks. I don't expect anyone to believe this, but for 8 months now choosing a niche has literally kept me up nights, invading my every thought, and kept me from fullfilling my hopes and dreams, hence, still on the porch. I feel like I have awakened from an 8 month recurring nightmare and it feels good. I can finally see the light.

I have to give credit where credit is due... I owe this life changing event to the sincere words of encouragement from my fellow WA members, it made all of the difference for me. Reading posts and blogs of others in the same situation; some having the guts to just go for it, and some still sitting on the porch. I was given a very simple piece of advice that just clicked for me; stop over thinking it. Who knew...

So fellow WA's, I sincerly thank you... today is the first day of the rest of my life, and I'm excited. I hope one day to return the kindness, the love, and the light to someone in need.

WA Rocks!

Hi! I feel your pain regarding choosing a niche. I had no problem coming up with ideas for a niche. Just couldn't think of one I could monetize.

I decided I would just choose something that was interesting to me and create a site around that, if nothing else, just for practice. Then I started getting other niche ideas. I guess just moving in one direction or the other stirs the grey matter. :-)

I struggled with the website thing too until I found Elegant Theme's DIVI theme. It makes things so easy and looks really good too. They have great support like WA has. Might be something you want to check out.

And NO I'm not an affiliate for them. I don't even know if they have an affiliate program or not. I just had a good experience with DIVI and passing the info along.

Just remember that you aren't alone in this. You can get all the help you need as a WA member.

Best wishes going forward.

Thank you so much...

Right now I'm just so overwhelmed, and that is my biggest downfall. I can't help but question my every thought. I started out so excited... WA is an awesome community and keeps my hopes alive. I don't even have a domain yet and I'm panicking about content.

There's just "so much" information here on WA, it's all good information, but overwhelming nonetheless.

Reading your blog gave me some comfort in the fact that you didn't happen overnight, so to speak. You stuck with it, and now you are moving forward in new ways.

I will continue on at my pace, and try to keep my sanity along the way.

Thank you again for your story, and the well wishes.

Steady as she goes. Everything will work out fine if you give it enough time and effort. Just go page by page. No one is pushing you but you. You got this!

Thanks, once I realized I wasn't going to make everything happen in a day, the pressure lifted. Now I do what I can do in a day, and look forward to the next day. I still get a little overwhelmed at times but I'm All In, and for the long haul. 😀

Hi and Welcome, I love the run with the big dogs saying, made me smile : ) Yes picking a Niche can be a stressful experience, and even after you commit you may have doubts (like me). My advice is stick with it, do the training as it will take your fledging Niche and website and build it up.

Wishing you all the best with your training and I look forward to following your success with your new website.

Hi Sara,

We shall see. I'm going to have to watch the building your website again; thought I had it until I got in there and realized how overwhelmed and lost I was. It's just going to take time. I'm just so happy to be here and to be a part of such an amazing community of like minded people. Thank you for the well wishes... :)

Honestly I cried through most of my first week! I just couldn't get the whole building a website. I picked a complicated theme and was trying to have the best website in the world on day 2!

At one point I got so confused and frustrated, my husband had to lead me away from the computer for a break! I swapped to a really simple theme and found it so much easier from the! By the end of week two I was flying through the training.

One thing I did do was in my enthusiastic excitement, I went very quick through the training. My advice, take it as slow as you need. You will be so proud of yourself when your website is up and running with a piece of content on it!

I look forward to celebrating with you!

Hey Sara,

Thank you for sharing this story with me. Perfect timing.

I have been at this since early this morning.

Just now I was in the middle of a training video and realized I needed to stop and walk away. I found myself getting easily flustered and my mind wandering. I guess I thought I was going to finish all of my training and produce a perfect website in one day.

Just when I would think I Got This... Well, you know.

My new game plan is to take it slow, and have fun with it.

I will let you know when it's time to celebrate.

Thank you... I think I'm going to have to watch the video again on setting up my website. I jumped in all gung ho and realized Oh Hell... I love that I can watch and rewatch the training videos, some days my ADHD is all over the place.

Thanks Again,

Teresa
