Attention Free Sumome Users
I have been using the free version of Sumome for quite some time now. I use the list builder pop up to get subscribers to my list.
But, there doesn't seem to be a way to shut this off for mobile users (maybe there is in the paid version - but I can't afford that right now). With the new changes from Google to make mobile users experiences better I am worried that my site ranking will be affected as a result.
So I am curious as to what others are doing (if you are using free sumome)?
Is the list builder pop up considered intrusitive? Should I get rid of it altogether?
Any insights would be great.
Thanks

Just checked what I'm using on another site, and it has the option to turn-off for mobile.
It's called Icegram if you want to look into it.
Thanks. is it just to collect email addresses or does it have social share buttons as well?
Strictly messages or lead generation (many different types) - there are add-ons as well though.
I was using Sumome on my golf site, but it seemed to slow it down for some reason (or at least I thought) so I took it out and added Icegram. I quite like it.

OK thanks. I haven't noticed SumoMe slowing down my site. What social buttons plugin do you use?
I prefer sumome...but may also use icegram for lead generation...not quite sure at this point.
On two sites my theme (paid) provides the buttons, on the other I use AddToAny.
I really liked Sumome and might consider giving it another try, but Icegram is pretty cool.
I like sumome because its and all in one thing and you get a lot in the free account (enough for me anyway). The only thing I didn't like is not being able to deactivate the pop up for mobile devices. But I think I have now figured that out thanks to Mel's (onmyownterms) help.
I had my husband go to my site from his phone and browse around for a bit and the pop up didn't show.
I also had a quick look at icegram. It does seem pretty cool. I also looked at their rainmaker tool, but it seems a bit too simplistic.
Hi Tanja, I switched SumoMe List Builder off & switched to Milotree which is also free, integrates with Mailchimp and less intrusive (and great for Pinterest).
Here is your answer - under the list builder, go to Display Rules. Make the 'show rule' to be on the home page.
Make the 'do not show rule' to be 'on mobile devices.
Thank you! I just added the rule "don't show on mobile devices". But I left the "show rule" to be all pages because many people get to my site via social media. They may never go to my homepage if they are just reading the article they clicked on.
But I assumed the rule "don't show on mobile devices" would cover all pages/posts on my site.
If this is not true, please let me know.
Good question Tanja - I will be waiting for responses as well.
We all must be mobile ready!
... thanks
Are you using Sumome? I can't see how to turn it off for mobile. I assumed it wasn't available in a free account.
Yes, but I don't remember how to do it off the top of my head. I only have the free version.
I have looked everywhere and there is no option to turn it off for mobile. I spent the last hour digging around when I finally decided to write this blog to see if the WA community could help me out. Are you using the list builder pop up? Maybe it's an option with other ones, but not this one.
I will log into one of my sites and get back to you - on mobile atm and it's not conducive to in-depth research.

I am just strating to use the free version of Sumo now to collect emails. As far as I can see, it is not included to connect it to a newsletter service like mailchimp unless you pay. How do you get the names into your actual newsletter program?
Thanks,
Mikael
Hi Mikael,
I manually copy and paste the emails into my autoresonder. Right now I'm only getting a handful of emails a week so it's been working fine.
There is also the option to download the emails in an excel file. So you can copy and paste from there or most autoresponders let you upload these files directly.
That sounds good. For now I will probably also be able to handle it manually:-) Thanks
