How Do You Keep Track Of Your Stuff?

I'm quickly finding that succeeding in online marketing takes a lot of discipline and organization. Luckily, I'm good at both!

I've met several WA'ers that are tackling this business in their spare time- after work, on weekends, after the kids go to bed... you know all that "spare time"! Many of us are building our business, but have a full-time career that takes up the majority of our time.

Oh how I wish I could focus on my blog and business all the time, but the truth is that I have a successful career that I love and have to devote a lot of time to. The business I'm building using the tools at WA will offer the financial freedom that I want for my family. My focus is paying off student loans, mortgages, all that other pesky debt... then being financially free to travel and eventually retire.

Honestly, once my business really takes off (when, not if!) I will likely need to focus solely on it and, at that point, will have the resources at that point to not have to have my full-time job. That's the plan anyway :)

My Point Is - I've Had To Find A Way To Organize All This Stuff!

Luckily, I love to organize, especially electronically. I use Google Drive extensively to keep track of all my files and have access to them wherever I am.

I’ve found another nifty little tool that takes my organization up a notch - Trello. It’s a free platform (I’m not in any way promoting it as an affiliate, because I’m solely using the free features - so I think I’m good discussing it here).

Using Trello’s free website (and they have an app), I’ve set up “boards” to track all kinds of subjects related to my business. Within the boards, I’ve set up “cards” to add more details. For example, some of my boards are:

  • WA Training - cards to organize specific subjects and details, such as SEO checklists, affiliate networks, content for posts, and so on.
  • Posts - I add a “card” for every new post I publish. I love that I can copy a template card and add the same relevant data for each post so I’ll have it all at a glance when I need it. For example:
    • Keyword
    • Keyword details from Jaaxy
    • Pretty Link
    • Affiliate Links included in the post, if any
    • Social sharing hashtags
    • You get the idea!
  • Facebook Groups - how to share, etc
  • Pinterest Group Boards
  • Checklists for things I should be doing for my business every day, week, month, etc.

Anyway - that’s what I’m doing so far and really like it. Again, I’m not trying to promote Trello, just offering up a free resource that might be helpful for you too!

Wishing You Much Success,

Tama

I have a list app on my phone that has all the things I need associated with my sites. I have one for each site, with the heading of mechanics, research topics, social media, and affiliates to check out. I have it on the phone so it goes everywhere with me.

I'm one of the lucky ones that has a full time job too that I like, but can't really make ends meet with it. I am lucky too that I have big blocks of time while I'm working where nothing happens and I can do WA stuff.

Sounds like you have it all together. I am going to look at Trello tho, and see what it's all about. Sounds like a cool app. Thanks for the information!

Sounds like you have come up with some good methods for organizing. Mine work, but probably just for me...lol...keep on moving forward, and will hope you fly to the moon.

Tama,
I use it, both for offline and online business.
Great advice
Peter
