First day at school

The start of any new venture is a daunting prospect.

Stumbling into this new world of online entrepreneurship, I am reminded of the first day when I stepped inside a school building as a five year old boy. I have a vivid recollection of the finger paint portraits on the walls and the labyrinthine layout of the corridors apparently designed to rule out all possibility of escape. The school was a threatening place and I was aware of the comfort and familiarity of home being overwritten with a cast of unfamiliar people, a lot of new rules to learn and a cascade of mistakes just waiting to happen. An overwhelming sense of paralysis overcame me as I watched my mother vanishing from sight, leaving me to figure out this strange new world by myself!

It took me a while to figure out the kids were just like me, the teachers were really there to help and that, within the unfamiliar world of school, I was being offered the tools that would serve me for a lifetime. And, somewhere along the way, I realised that it could also be fun.

So, as the world of online business reveals itself and I flash back to the memories of my five year old self trembling at the start of my educational journey, I remind myself to take a deep breathe and remember that the kids here are friendly, the teachers are here to help and that new opportunities to explore and learn are just within reach.

And, who knows, it might even be fun.

Peter, it's just a new beginning. I applaud you for upgrading to Premium. That's where your new life begins. Take a look at my training on "It's A Progression". Give me your feedback and comments. Welcome to WA, congratulations!

Thanks Richardo. I will do that!

Triple that, me too!

Triple that, me too!

You're right....it was pretty similar for me as well, without the school bully to fight! LOL. I never liked school though...I always wanted to run wild and barefoot outside, and hated being in a classroom tied to a desk. I still fight that feeling today, but I manage to relegate time in front of the computer each day, because this IS fun and exciting. Good blog!
Dennis

Thanks Dennis. :) It's a good point that at least there's nobody here trying to steal my lunch! It makes a big difference knowing that the time in front of the computer is all about active learning and creating something that's going to give back in the future. Have a great day!

Absolutely! It's also nice that if I have any trouble with my "homework" I can just put the question out there and a whole community of people are out there that are willing to help me. What a great concept!
