Can members change my site and pagepost need protection?

Hey! Everyone. How are you?

I hope you all well, so you can answer my questions. Lol!

Actually this happened a few days ago. I have accidentally made my website accepting of members, with 1 click on general settings, that my website allows "any one 'to subscribe, even though I want them to subscribe to my email listings, but it's not running yet.

I was confused when I found out there was a strange name on my website user list and site support really helped me.

When I realized someone wanted to register as my member, I was very happy, but this made me have to find out about membership-based websites, or free membership plugins. [Lol! because this was not in my plans].

And thanks, I found blogs on WA that discusses website based membership. Then I had download+install+activies a membership plugin; Ultimate Member, [and I can't use the plugin suggested because it says: Untested with your version of WordPress].

Once I set it to protect page and posts, but it doesn't show up when I check from outside the site, so I changed it again to unprotected.

My current question is:

- Can the members change my website after logging in?

- Whether all posts and pages need to be protected. If it's not protected, can the members change my post / page?

- How about login page, register page, join us page, profile page, or the download page?

Well, I plan to give freebies/sell a bundle of something that my member can download it.

I'm still confused about protection, what page/posts needs to be protected? and what are the risks?

I appreciate any help and thank you so much in advance :)

Great share, thanks

Thank you so much, Abie :)
I've deactivated the plugin for a while, I haven't decided anything yet until I get a definite answer about this protection.
Have a great day, Abie. bye!

Hi Sylvia, if someone can logon to your WA dashboard and access your word press dashboard, they can modify your posts and cause problems to your website.
If this is the case I would recommend you change your login details. I hope I am understanding your question accurately.
I may even go as far as contacting site support so you are sure your website is protected.

Best wishes,
Michael

Hey Michael.
Thank you for the overview of this case and the suggestions. I agree with you, I better ask this on the site support.
Thanks again, I appreciate it :)

You are welcome. Hope everything works out OK.

Michael

Thanks, Mike. I don't think I'm going to build a member website for now, it's not easy, I'll focus more on building my email list first.
thanks again, and have a nice weekend :)

Wishing you the best Sylvia. Have a great weekend.

Michael

Thank you so much, Michael. I appreciate it :)

You are very welcome Sylvia.

I look forward to the answers

Hey, Lisa, thanks for coming over :)
Yes, I'm also waiting for the answer.

Hello Sylvia,

Those are really good questions you brought up. I wish I could help you out, but I don't have answers for you.

My suggestion is to bring your questions over to the live chat. I believe you would get your questions answered faster there.

All my best to you,
Heidi

Yes, Heidi. I wish I could speak at the live chat, but right now I'm working on other things. I'm also worried that I can't speak fast in English conversation, which is usually with the help of the Google Translator app. Lol!
Anyway, thanks for your suggestion, Heidi. I appreciate it :)
