What Sets You Apart?

We live in a culture that moves at a breakneck speed and can quickly leave us behind if we don’t keep pace. We often see that as people strive to get ahead, they will step over, around, and on top of one another in the name of competition and success. And in the process honor sometimes quickly evaporates.

During the years that I maintained my insurance business, I taught all the agents I hired to not be salespersons, because they’re a dime a dozen and, quite frankly, we’re all sick of them. Instead, I taught my agents to become trusted advisors, people of honor and integrity – people in whom our clients could fully rely. During those years, I unfortunately had to dismiss a few agents who chose to take shortcuts and/or allow their greed to become their guide.

What sets you apart as you develop your niche and work to grow your business? Here at WA we have an amazing amount of resources and some of the best support available. It is an opportunity to learn, if you have a teachable spirit. It is an opportunity to help others, if you are an encourager. It is an opportunity to change your life for the better. But to do so means that you need to help others change their lives as well.

As you grow your business, I encourage you to do your due diligence in these things. You were created as a unique individual, so let that shine through in your daily life. Write your own content and don’t “borrow” from others. Develop your own mailing lists and don’t subscribe others without their consent. Work hard to develop your craft according to your abilities. Do not give up the pursuit of learning.

Fall flat and fail, get frustrated, but in all things, get back up and press toward the goal to which you have been called. Remember to breathe, to forgive yourself, and to believe in yourself. Words and behavior work together, and they need to be in alignment with one another. Let love be the competition, and strive to outdo one another in that pursuit only. Know that something eternal is at work in your everyday life, even if you don’t see it this very moment. Peace my friends.

Integrity, and credibility, are so important, helping others, kindness .. all good traits, which people of substance have. You express these traits well, and encourage your fellow members.

Thank you for being you!

Thanks brother, much appreciated.

This really touched me. Thank you Bob.
Having been on the very extreme of aggressive sales tactics and mind control with an abusive cult, it is really refreshing to be here where people like you genuinely understand that nothing of real honesty, value and passion needs to be pushed on people.

Whilst for most people these sales tactics are annoying, on the other end they are life threatening.
Thanks for encouraging the sane way :)

Thank you Tania! And yes, peace certainly comes as we live by the principles of simplicity and respect. Peace my friend.

Thanks for this. I don't trust insurance men because I grew up with a shady one. My father was, and is, not an especially nice guy. I've worked very hard to not be like him.

I want my business to be about helping people solve a problem first and foremost. Thanks for the reminder. :-)

My pleasure Wendy! It was a cutthroat industry that, as I said, I set myself apart. Peace my friend!

Thanks brother, my pleasure.

I love this - thanks for the reminder. I believe that the universe will expand to accommodate all desires - it is only us human beings who incorrectly think otherwise and that we need to compete at everything and on every level. But that's just because most of us are convinced we are living with limited resources and have a mindset obsessed with lack! I agree with you. Love is the be all and end all. Peace to you too. :)
