Eid Al Fitr.
Malaysia has quite a number of celebrations,among others are Independant Day, Malaysia Day, New Year, King Birthday, chinese New Day, Thaipusam,Good Friday,Labour Day, Wesak Day and Eid Al Fitr.
Eid Al Fitr is a celebration also known as Feast Of Fast Breaking or in Malaysia known as Hari Raya Aidil Fitri.In Malaysia this celebration is celebrated today May 24,2020. It is on 1st of Syawal,1441 of the Muslim calendar after undergoing one month of fasting. Fasting is going without food and drink from dawn to dusk besides doing certain rituals as laid down in the teaching of Islam. At dawn around 05.30 hours is the last food and drink to take before breaking fast at dusk at around 19.25 hours. This fasting is only carried out by healthy male and female adult but not children below 15 years old. If you are sick you are allowed to skip the day that you are not fit, but you have to replace some other day when you are not sick.
After one month of fasting, you are celebrating it with Feast Of Fast Breaking or locally known in Malaysia as Hariraya Aidil Fitri or Eid Al Fitr.
The celebration with a prayer at mosque or other worshiping houses at 09.00 hours before visiting relatives and friends. At your relatives or friends houses you are treated with delicious food specially prepared for this celebrations as "ketupat" ,"rendang" vegetables besides a variety of cakes and biscuits."Ketupat" is rice put into cases made of young coconut leaves and boil in hot water for about 4 hours until it is well cooked and is taken with meat or chicken cooked with spices called "rendang". While enjoying the delicious food,everyone chit chating to each other. Each visits take about 30 minutes to one hour before you proceeds to another friends or relatives.
Unfortunately now Malaysia is under Movement Restriction Order caused by Corona Virus, Covid 19 pandemic visiting relatives and friends are restricted and everyone is asked to stay at home besides other measures as distancing at least 1.0meter between each other, wearing face mask and avoiding a crowded space.
