Well, it’s Thursday and soon (for many) to be a long weekend. What will you do with that extra day?

As many of you know, I’m retired so perhaps you think I can have a long weekend whenever I want. In actuality, I don’t pay much attention to the days except Sunday is a special day for me.

When I went up to NY, my intent was to paint and any other incidentals that need to be done for my ex mother in law (MIL). She’s 92 and needs help. Give me a paint brush and I’m happy. Porches, indoor walls, canvas, fabric….you name it. This is what I accomplished.

At the end of every day, I took time to check into WA. Accomplishing both physical and mental work each day, was fulfilling and I slept well.

Now, I don’t show you these because I need praise. I simply want to say 2 things:

  • - Sometimes we need to stop and help those that need it
  • - Sometimes WE need a break to refresh

While our business at WA IS important, sometimes we need to stop. I’ve learned recently that life isn’t really about balance but more of an ebb and flow. Observe nature. We have sunrise/sunset, we have low tide/high tide, we have seasons, well, you get the picture.

Honestly, I could sit at the computer ALL day but is that good? No….not for our eyes nor our bodies. This doesn’t just apply to seniors either. I sat at my computer all day, every day for years. I ended up with many headaches. We weren't created to to sit 24/7.

So, I’m suggesting that with that extra day:

- consider a physical project that you’ve been putting off

- helping an elderly neighbor with a task that they can no longer do or

- simply heading off for a hike

The forest is a GREAT way to refresh your brain. You have one life here – make the most of it. We need to use Body, Mind and Soul. You now have Friday to make your plans.

Have a GREAT long weekend.

p.s. Follow Kyle on Instagram and you’ll see all his nonWA projects! Whew!

Hey,

I did know of your particular proclivity to painting believe you find it therapeutic as the pictures show it is not slapdash. Never expected it to be as your eye for detail was evident from the start. Really Good Job, Well Done!!

What impresses me more however is your kindness in helping others who require it and even more so your clarion call for everyone to look after their health and dedicate some free time to getting out for a walk in the woods and outdoor activity.

As you know that is also a passion of mine! ; For what good is slaving over a computer for long periods if it affects your health as you rightly say it did, surely everyone wishes to be able to enjoy the fruits of their labour. Love the analogy with the ebb and flow.

Extremely helpful lead by example and sage timely reminder Debbi!!; Good on you!

Have a great planning day!! haha

R.

I do love painting and always did. Of course, my interests are eclectic so you're likely to find me anywhere......behind an easel, in a kayak, in the woods, behind a camera, in a bookstore. No telling. I've gotten to the point now though that I won't go hiking alone nor kayaking. Too many crazies out there and while I do have a conceal carry permit, I don't want to have to use it.

Planning.....well, I've been promising some abstract painting so that might be the thing.

Yo have a great weekend!

Sounds sensible regarding the hiking and kayaking pity though as I remember you saying you adored to do both. Best though as you say not worth the aggro (aggravation) even though they will probably come off worse in that kind of encounter !! lols

OK, you have a great abstract painting weekend if that is what you are set on doing!! you may get a Picasso quality work of art... out of an art gallery of course!!; lols only kidding;

Have a great weekend yourself!!;

R.

Thanks but I won't be cutting off my ear AND I'll remember you when I'm rich and famous. 🤣🤣🤣

Was it not Van Gogh that did that? or is this some kind of usual wind up you cheeky madam!! lols; See you've done t with the low blood pressure too!!

I'll hold you to that when you are!! ha ha

R.

Ahhhhh, you're so right. It WAS Van Gogh. I must have been riled up about the vaccine. 🤣 Cheeky? 😂

You can say you knew me when I was simply crazy vs eccentric.

Fantastic post, Debbi, and boy are you ever a painter, all that paint work is beautiful, and boy did you ever do a lot of it. You and I are much alike that way, before my injury that's the way I used to be, had to keep physically busy as well as mentally. I used to love helping the elderly and just neighbors in general, I used to go out of my way to help anyone, it just just made me feel so good and fuzzy inside. That's why I like the right good post on WA and answer good questions on WA.

Joe

Thanks, Joe. I do love to paint though. Jeff offered to pay me in fried rice to paint for him. 😊. If I lived closer, I'd take him up on that.

How is your search going? Any progress?

Debbi

No luck yet Debbie, I am using a lawyer right now.

Great! They can be pretty intimidating. I was a government paralegal for about 3 years. Loved it but needed more money as a single parent. In any case, maybe they'll scare something up for you.

Hello Deb, When I retiring like you. I know where my place to hang out. Of course the same as you.We have a WA platform to mingle our every day life. Aside from making our day physically moving with other project away from computer.

I'll be gone next week for a 4 days of fishing. Actually I take off more than that to work with some project in here.

Regards,

Nila

Good for you, Nila. Have a great time.

Thanks for stopping.

Thanks for the reminder. I too get tired eyes and headaches from being in front of the computer for too long. I am also retired and I find that by breaking up my day I get much more accomplished. I work from about 9 am until lunchtime on my online business. After lunch, I usually do some outside work. After supper, I spend a few more hours on WA. Those decks look awesome by the way. My wife also loves painting.

That sound like a perfect plan of action.

Thanks for stopping. Have a great weekend.

Hi Debra,

Great job! indeed, we need to take a break so that we can recharge and then continue along. Thanks for sharing your painting project and it was a great remainder of the importance of doing other things as well as work on our businesses.

Wishing you the very best!

Kind regards,
Nichola

Thank you for stopping by Nichola. Sometimes we forget to take a break and I thought this was an ideal time.

Have a great weekend.
