Lemons or lemonade?
I just love this picture of these two adorable little girls getting caught in the rain. One is thrilled with the change of events - thinks the rain is enchanting and she's ready to make an adventure out of it. The other is grumpy and disappointed. Sees the rain as a cold and ugly intrusion which has totally ruined their play plans. So she starts to cry.
One of the biggest lessons I've learned in life (so far!) is that I am responsible for my own happiness. Not one person or thing or circumstance can "make me happy" or "make me sad." It's entirely up to me. Once I really learned and adapted this philosophy, I became a tremendously happier person.
Do you think of yourself as an optimist? A pessimist? Or do you think you are a "realist"? I had a philosophy professor at the U of O tell us something that I have never forgotten, and it sure changed my outlook. He said that "Really, there is no such thing as 'reality.' It's all perception." Interesting thought, huh?
Lemons?
Lemonade?

I'm both but try to be an optimist. But I love lemons, so I guess either way, life is good.
Sandra, you and I have similar backgrounds (corporate) and in that environment a person HAS to choose to be optimistic. Otherwise, as you know, it'll kill ya! Thanks for the comment.
Yes, or at least give the appearance of being optimistic! No crying in corporate, or griping, or pointing out the obvious flaws that exist!
So true. I do my best to be an optimist, but I'm much more of a realist. I've had to be in my life. Still, I totally agree that you make your own choices about this stuff. If you want to be miserable all the time, you will be. Just keep your skanky self away from me! :) Thanks, Patti!
Carla, I just re-read your profile and you are truly an amazing person. You have had a lot in your life where you could have rationalized that you earned the "lemon" attitude, but you're lemonade, definitely. Thanks for the comment, my friend.
Well... I think everybody has a choice, but people like you simply choose to rise above it and move ahead.

I use to be an optimist, I am much happier now as a realist. Divorce can really open your eyes lol... when life gives you lemons add vodka! Just kidding! Maybe...
LOL! I like the vodka part!
