First and foremost, I'm going to say I'm not a marketer, marketing kind of person. In fact, I'm not a big fan of marketing - and that has to do mainly with my previous (and limited) experience with marketing - which was, well, bad.

I am a writer. Needless to say, I love writing. I also make my money from writing. it is something I started doing full-time 4 years ago. Books, magazines, online content, research reports, that kind of stuff. Turns out for me that the money isn't too shabby.

Somewhere along the way, I met other people who wanted to make writing their full-time career too. It is one thing to find something that works for me. It is another thing altogether to have someone else replicate it successfully.

To find enough work for all of us, i began writing less, and doing other stuff more - namely "marketing" - pitching ideas to clients, getting listed in directories, setting up websites... that kind of thing. It came to a point when i realised hey - i wasn't writing much! that made me grumpy and frustrated. It wasn't that there wasn't enough work to go around - there are many businesses and people who want to work with writers - but the nail finally hit home when i sat down one day to work out the math - my hourly rate was utterly, truly, devastatingly DISMAL. along the lines of like $0.25 per hour!

How can I go to someone who loves writing and go, "here, I can tell you love writing. Ditch your full-time job. I'll show you how you can be a full-time writer. But it is gonna pay you literally peanuts."

Now that doesn't quite cut it, does it? Why can't writers be wealthy too?

So that's where I was when I stumbled into Wealthy Affiliate. I wanted to find new and lucrative (the latter was imperative) writing platforms for me, for those under me, and, should this grow bigger - for others to come.

In the past 6 days as a free member, I was blown away with what i found in WA. The sheer volume of precise training material alone was mind-boggling. Then there's the whole community bit - a gathering of like-minded people who spoke their minds, all with the common goal of helping everyone succeed.

What sold me was how committed WA is - from getting started to technical bits to making money - there are so many steps involved each step of the way and there is support and help for it each step of the way - I have never come across something like this so far. and it is this comprehensive and holistic approach that gives me confidence to jump into undoing and re-learning "marketing" in a totally new and exciting way.

Finally, I am on my way to ditching my bad past experiences so that I can get on to creating, in a focused way, a link between making money and quality content. Hey, we writers can create a lot of content - we might as well be making some decent profit from it too! Hmm. Wealthy Writers at WA... How does that sound?

At the end of the day, what i am really after is to build a solid platform that a writer can use to make money with. With that out of the way, more and more writers would step up, and will then be truly free to give back what they are gifted with - their gift of writing stories to the world.

And it starts with me.

So look out world, here I come.
