Wish Us Luck Y'all. Florence is Heading For The Carolinas, USA
It's getting scary here, but we've been through it before. My husband and I don't live on the coast but mid-state, so we'll likely just get some flooding, lost tree branches and electricity. My sister and her family live in Myrtle Beach but are staying here for the duration of the storm. (We always planned on visiting one another "soon" but never got around to it. So now we're having a hurricane party!)
But since Katrina, I thought mandatory meant you HAVE TO get out! But it doesn't. People can still choose to stay in the face of who-knows-what-the-H-is-gonna-happen. I reckon that's what freedom's all about and I'm grateful for it, But it still makes me worry.
On the news, a reporter interviewed a store owner in Myrtle Beach who said she elected to stay so she could sell goods to the other residents who chose to stay and in the wake of the storm. Goods that will be sorely needed.....
And you could tell by watching this woman that she did not know the definition of "gouging". For those of you who don't know what gouging means, it means to grossly overcharge people in a desperate situation. (Example: charging someone $5 for a bottle of water or $25 for 1 gallon of gasoline.)

Hi Ruthlyn, thank you for your good wishes and prayers. Right now my family is just praying and waiting. Hopefully when Florence has done what she's gonna do, I'll be able to write another blog - Thanking God and thanking all the WA members for their prayers.

Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers Eugene. I feel so grateful to the WA community for their outpouring of prayers and blessings. Hopefully Florence will be much diminished by the time the storm reaches you.
Sending prayers to you, your family and to everyone in the path. It is sad that people take part in goudging in a time of devastation like that.
You know what they say though. "Karma is a b#@%h" and if you can take advantage of those in need like that, you deserve it.

I have a daughter in Miami who was w/o power for 9 days last year. So I know what you're talking about. Make sure you stock up on everything NOW while you still can. Sending prayers for everyone who will be effected by this monstrous storm.
Thank you for your prayers nsilva. The storm is due to make landfall late this afternoon and in this town, all the stores' cupboards are bare. But we're well stocked with bottled water, canned goods (with manual can-opener), batteries and toilet paper!
Let's hope you won't have to deal with it, cause this waiting is no fun at all! Thank you for your good wishes!
