3E Factors have their place.
Enthusiasm
Enthusiasm is defined as an intense enjoyment, interest, or approval. It is derived from Greek. The word was originally used to refer to a person possessed by a god, or someone who exhibited intense devotion.
However, in modern context, you can find that people who are happy or happier in our own surroundings to be more enthusiastic. The key word here is happiness. It is the happiness that is brings out the enthusiasm from inside. “Enthuse” is to say the “God inside you”.
The reasons for a person to be happy could be several. Such as
You have won a lottery.
You have found a soul mate
You have got a new job or promotion.
Some event that has occurred that is putting you on a higher level of feeling or excitement. This would be temporary.
However, there is another angle to it. If you are able to find the inner real reason that made you happy. It is possible for you to work towards retaining that happy state of mind, and if you will find that, then you have high chances of being happy most of the time and retaining your enthusiasm. This would be different for different people.
I realized that I found enthusiasm whenever I was involved in helping/teaching somebody something new, reading or learning something new, making friends or meeting friends who have similar interests.
However, finding that happy state of mind itself takes work and it is Taking ACTION.
Empathy
It is the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. This sounds very simple but never easy in my opinion. This is one of the greatest skills demanded in leadership roles these days.
Don't get me wrong when I say leadership. Even parenting and or spouse are leaders as well. All these roles need the capacity to exercise empathy at various times with various people.
Leaders who exercise empathy are more sought in today's business and political worlds as well.
This is done well by being an active listener. Developing active listening skill and para-phrasing is gold and will serve in a long way.
Some people do view being empathetic for being weak. It is interesting, unfortunately, just feeling sympathetic does not last long.
I took really long time to understand this trait and started living on a day-day basis and it is still a challenge as day throws up new circumstance.
Ego
This is a big one now.
EGO - this is “a person's sense of self-esteem or self-importance.”
Ego works in two ways. A person with less ego is like a person with lower self esteem and having too much is being narcissistic. It is a challenge to have just the right amount of ego. It all depends on person to person and situations and intention.
Ego does help in situations, especially challenging ones. Once you overcome the situation then your ego automatically boosts in a good-feeling manner.
If you have faced difficult situations and had unfavourable outcomes, then you would tend to feel a bit low ego.
The worst case being, knowingly and intentionally, putting one's own ego up, for the sake of it. For example, putting up an act of superiority where not necessary, or self-centered behaviour is not warranted, then this is a narcisstic scenario.
In all the cases Enthusiasm, Empathy and Ego, knowing our own selves and taking right dose of ACTION, helps us to grow in our lives as an individual much faster towards our purposes and goals.
Leap to greatness.
Embrace the struggle.
To your success
Take care, stay safe.
