Social pages really work wonders
I created a business page on facebook about 3 weeks ago as a doorway to my website, though I do include some humorous images on facebook that aren't on the blog site, and I have to say it has amazed me how much success it's had.
As of last Friday I had 98 likes. So I decided to run some promos to see if I could get to 200 by the end of the weekend. I would have been happy with that.
I also added a picture that I knew would get responses from truckers, and did a boost on it. I just didn't know it would be so many responses. Got lucky finding just the right picture.
What has actually happened is that today I have 676, and that is a 150 increase from Monday and 26 increase from 11:00 PM yesterday. Every time I go back and check there are more.
Being an ex-truck driver I know how much down time they have and that they are always looking for some sort of entertainment, the more the better, especially when sitting at a customer for hours waiting to be loaded or unloaded. So, it's a 24 hour clock when gaining followers from truckers since there will always be some that are up all night.
Checking the google analytics on my website, there has been over 1,000 visitors to my site in the same time period. 38% bounce rate. Not sure what a good bounce rate is but I think, for now, that's fine considering how new the site is and I still don't have the site quite where I want it. There is still a ton of stuff to add. It's just a matter of finding the time to do it.
If the website starts getting real busy with comments and questions I'll probably have to find someone to handle the facebook page.
God help me when the forum starts to get active.
I have spent some money on advertising, not only on facebook ads but also other places, such as google ads, as one example. So those seem to be paying off.
I have built a google+ page as well but I'm more or less hoping it won't take off so fast because the facebook page alone is keeping me pretty busy, and then I have the blog site and the forums to keep up with. All this while trying to work a job.
I could use another 10 hours in the day.
Checking google search, my facebook page is showing up already on page 4 and it's only 3 weeks old. In the meantime, my blog site is 2 months old and doesn't show up anywhere. That's fine because if people get to the facebook page they can get to the blog and the forums from there. Doesn't matter to me which route they take but hearing the talk about age of a site making a difference makes me scratch my head since the youngest site is showing all the way up on page 4 already.
