Traffic Builder - SEO or Social Media?

The more I learn the more I realize how little I know.
I am mindful of keywords in creating my posts but find that I receive almost an immediate traffic response when sharing on social media. I do realize that both SEO and social media posts should be used in building our markets, but I am curious which you have found to be the most effective. I have not implemented any email marketing yet.
