The YouTube Tabloids
Avoid Information Overload!
How many of you have gone down the rabbit hole of the YouTube tabloids?
Endless thumbnails displaying visions of grandreur.
Always a new tip, technique, or hack to get you ranking #1 in Google and gain thousands of visitors who will be knocking down your website doors. Go from Noob to Pro by following their special formula, just click.
I fully confess that I get caught up with clicking on them because Iām constantly trying to learn. After all, it has only been 1 year for me and Iām still a little naive. Iām slowly maturingā¦
Itās like searching for the Holy Grail, and itās just around the corner if you just keep going; gamble and play the YT lottery by choosing the perfect thumbnail to become rich; justā¦.oneā¦.moreā¦.videoā¦.ugh š®
Videos who desire to teach everyone the ārightā way. Because, obviously, we are never doing it just right. They hold the secrets of affiliate marketing that no one else is privy to and all you have to do is click to instantly be enlightened.
WARNING! WARNING! INFORMATION OVERLOAD! Itās enough to turn your brain to mush and stop all productivity.
If youāre watching a video, for the love of whatever you call sacred, make it full screen because you will be tempted by tons of attention getting videos waiting on the sidelines, much like groupies waiting for the rockstar to exit the stage. But then again, some might like that. š
Choose Wisely
That being said, theyāre not ALL bad. There are some really insightful videos that can genuinely teach you something new. Letās face it, Iām sure many of us here have YouTube channels (Iām working on mine), that create similar headlines to grab peopleās eyes. Itās standard protocol and necessary if you want to get viewers and subscribers am I right? I totally get it and Iām certainly not bashing anyone.
My advice would be to choose wisely, especially if youāre new in this online realm. Look for information that aligns with what youāre currently working on. Honestly, thereās nothing wrong with being curious, I know I am, but be careful not to dive too deep into rabbit holes that will render you counterproductive. (saying this for my benefit too) šš¼āāļø
Stay Focused
Keep your eye on the ball and remain laser focused on the task at hand. Too much information at one time will drive anyone crazy and it will stifle your progress.
Break up your SEO learning into chunks:
- Keyword research
- Content writing
- Technical SEO
- On-page optimization
- Link building
- Web design (UX)
- Local SEO (if needed)
- Data analytics
*Remember, Wealthy Affiliate has plenty of training to help you right from the start. Click on the magnifying glass icon in the top bar to find even more helpful blogs and vlogs that will answer many of your questions. The community, live chat, and private messaging is always available too.
Conclusion
Now, I limit my time on YouTube by watching only a few faves I find interesting and if Iām wanting to learn something specific for further clarification.
Be mindful when scrolling through the Youtube tabloids my friends.

Great advice Steve... I have certainly gone waaaay deeper into a rabbit hole on more occasions than I would like to admit!!!
All the very best moving forward my friend! :-)
Yes, it is easy to get lost in all the how to videos and travel vlogs. By nature our brains are a thirsty sponge eager to soak it all up. You have to learn how to sip it slowly....great post Steve!
Steve, I know exactly what you mean.
Those clickbait thumbnails pull me in every time, promising some secret trick to instant success. Itās way too easy to lose hours jumping from one video to the next, thinking the next one will have the answer.
But youāre rightāstaying focused on what actually helps is the way to go. I remind myself that learning is great, but action is what really makes a difference.
Appreciate your take on this!
Best,
Boris

Aaaahh, the YouTube tabloids Steve! Where clickbait reigns supreme and thumbnails scream louder than reality itself. šš
Itās fascinating how sensationalism fuels engagement, creating a never-ending loop of āBREAKING NEWSā that often turns out to beā¦ well, not-so-breaking. The psychology behind it is both terrifying and geniusāwe know itās exaggerated, yet we still click. Hook, line, and algorithm.
Your breakdown here is spot-on! YouTube is its own digital Hollywood, where drama, controversy, and āshocking revelationsā drive the show. Monetization thrives on emotions, and the audience is both the consumer and the product.
Whatās next? AI-powered gossip bots creating the ultimate sensationalist machine? š¤š I wouldnāt bet against it!
Awesome read: insightful, entertaining, and eerily accurate! š„ Looking forward to more of your takes on the madness!
Keep it coming
