Steve, I am sorry to hear that you are redundant - no longer needed or useful; superfluous.
With your background in IT I believe you'll quickly surpass many, myself included, of us who only know how to surf, check email and read a lot. I have ideas, but not the experience as to how to do things. Oh yeah, don't let others determine your worth because your ability is more valuable than those who set you adrift. Use what you already know and focus on what you can deliver to others with what you do. In other words your in an excellent position to be a consultant to lots of potential clients, not just one. Take a personal inventory of what you can do, inform others about your skills and willingness to do the hard work behind the scenes as a consultant and contractor of IT skills. Hey, maybe I've given you a good idea there, I'll gladly accept just a small percentage fee on your success (haha). I guess it's the manager in me (where's my cut).
