Whenever I open .htaccess file, I saw this warning statement as below.

Be sure to make a backup before making changes and ensure that you have FTP access to your web server and know how to access and edit files via FTP.

Back up is already have but why need FTP access to edit? Is AIOSEO has given us the access to edit the code? If no, why AIOSEO let us edit the .htaccess file and give us the warning.

Do anyone edit .htaccess file before and it is safe? Appreciate advise from anyone.

There are safe ways to edit the htaccess files. There several pieces of training here in WA and outside of here through Wordpress. Here is information from WordPress for a safe editor for download with information and instructions. https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-htaccess-editor/

There is also some training here in WA about editing htaccess files from WA. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the plugin which is useful to edit safely.
But I am a bit cautions to understand how to recover back. Thanks a lot for your responses.

Hey
I did in the past but I followed instructions, nowadays believe easier. FTP is in Site Domains and you want FileZilla to log in to your files and find the .htaccess but yes back up or if too important ask site support for a staging site.

How about our AIOSEO already have .htaccess file for editing. Is it safe to make changes to AIOSEO?

Thanks for the link given. I can read the basic SEO to check my SEO setting. May be they have not updated according to the new AIOSEO yet.

As far as I know .htaccess can only be pursued in our domain name files on the server and filezilla ftp is how to connect, it is a very small text notepad, apologies but I am not quite sure why it would be included in a seo plugin.

Yesterday I tried to edit on Htaccess file with "KeepAlive On" due to the longer server time. Can saved, but 3 hours later website give 500 errors which is a server error.
The only way is using your recommended plugin, but in case any upset, the recovery process looks complicated to me. So I dare not try.
Have you seen an Htaccess file in AIOSEO tools section?
