Hi I am back!

Hi WA community,

I’m not exactly sure what I’m hoping for by writing this, but I’m back to being more active here and I really want to get involved in the community side of WA, connect with like-minded people, and focus on slow growth instead of hustling.

A bit of background: I first came across WA during a very stressful time in my life – the pandemic – and like many others, it brought a lot of insecurities for my family, especially financial ones. I was self-employed with a medium-sized dog walking company and also teaching part-time at a university. Both jobs felt unstable.

Long story short – I started my first blog in 2020 – a blog on gentle parenting – paused it a year in to rebuild my dog walking business – improved my business blog with what I learned here – lost my domain after forgetting to renew it and someone took it – rebranded – lost what little traffic I had – started teaching part-time remotely at a second university (I teach Design and Software for Architecture) – found out my son is AuDHD and PDA, found out I am AuDHD and PDA and in functional burnout – withdrew my 7-year-old son from school – he fell into burnout – decided to close my dog walking business – rested a lot – learned about neurodiversity and the nervous system – learned about ableism – learned how to slow down – got a Yorkie – got excited about slowly continuing my blogs with no real pressure for them to be anything other than an enjoyable skill-building project.

My company blog is for city-living millennials who want to make sure their dogs are living their best lives. I’m considering adding a Yorkie section since we have one now and I’m falling in love with the breed.

My parenting blog started as a gentle parenting blog, but I’d like to shift toward our current focus: Low Demand Parenting, PDA, a nervous-system lens on parenting, and unschooling.
