Standaar IF you are doing this to make:

1. a "prototype" website or
2. have an existing website but you want to experiment with different themes, layouts, widgets or plugins

I have a different solution for you.

When you consider the cost of a college course my philosophy is what the heck for around $10.00 I can register a domain name with a dummy name then point it to WA or Hostgator and experiment to my hearts content.

Just be sure to block google searches as you don't want duplicate content. I have three dummy sites that I use to test different themes and experiment with plugins. Most web hosts including WA allow more than one hosted site.

To "play" with your "beta site" you will need some material to populate your posts and pages. There are plugins that you can use to import your existing material from your live site - just be sure to block Google searches not to get marked for using duplicate material. But there is a plugin to import "filler material". I used my material and most likely shouldn't have. But here is a link to WordPress to get a filler plugin

https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-dummy-post-generator/

I'm glad that you figured out something that works for you!

Iam now using: Maintenance Mode from Lukas Juhas. It works great. I have to double check but so far so good.

You can use a plug-in WP Maintenance. I built one of my websites using this, or a similar, plug-in. You can find a YouTube video to help you. I tried to send the link to the video here but WA didn't allow it.

Valerie ok, i will check that out! Thank you. I think a plugin is more easy to use :-)

It certainly is easier :) Let us know about the outcome, will you?

But if you need a REAL off-line environment then WAMP setup is the way to go.

Yes I will let you know asap I will strat building a new website. Thank you all for the quick responses and also the usefull tips!

You can install WAMP or LAMP stack on your desktop and work on it. When you are satisfied with it you can migrate the site to the server.

This involves some technical knowledge, of course. MySQL basics, migration procedures, ... but it is completely doable :)

Ok I will check this out. Thanks for the quick response!

Is this an option? bitnami.com

Hello WA members!

I have the following question:

When I go to the Google Webmaster Tools I get the following message:

The systems of Google recently detected

Hi Standaar,

Any update on this? I am having the same problem.

Hello Pitin,

This blog will help you: Grtz,
Bert

Thanks Bert!

Your Welcome... ;-)

Hi all, no it didn't work. So I have to change the robot.txt

I use the All in One SEO plugin and I have activated the robot.txt.
Maybe it will work now and if not i have to change it to the text Ignorant gaves me.

Update from my side. I have delete the website from Google Webmaster Tools and I have add the website again on Webmaster Tools. I think it is coincidence that the website has gone up in rank and also mobile friendly symbol next to my website? I have to wait before I have some more information about this. Google most crawl the website etc.

But did you make the changes I proposed to your robots.txt?
It is normal that it goes up in ranking and did you make some changes?
That would explain the mobile friendly...

I think Google had my robot.txt from my old website. I have changed my website a month ago. I havent changed anything. I will check the Google webmaster tool to found out if Google already have crawled my website.

I haven't tinkered with google webmaster yet!

I hope that you got this issue figured out

http://www.thesempost.com/new-google-search-console-warning-for-googlebot-cannot-access-css-and-js-files/ Talks about this issue.

Adding these two lines of code to your robots.txt should take care of the problem.
Allow: /wp-includes/css/
Allow: /wp-includes/js/

I've read this before! Thanks...

Hi, try to watch this link hope it helps you

Thank you Renelunm, but this still doesnt solve my "problem". How can Google have acces to the robot.txt file of my website?

how about this one Frans,

Thank you renelynm for the quick reply! I will check this link you provided me :-)

I have checked and this is what google give me:
User-agent: *
Disallow: /wp-admin/

So if iam correct, if i change this robot.txt file to (i delete /wp-admin/:

User-agent: *
Disallow:

Then it is solved? Can you or someone give me some advice...before i have done something wrong :-)

try to wait for Ignorant or Loes some expert of that Frans for better advice.

I will, thanks again renelynm for the help :-)

Hello,

Just check the message from Labman, he has given you all the explanation + solution...

Probably you have copied a robots.txt from "somewhere" with
Disallow: /wp-includes/css/
Disalllow: /wp-includes/js/

Because by default it is enabled (nothing is in robots.txt).

A small remark, I know Renelyn wants to do good and be helpful which she is, but I am not the expert here, I mean, I am only at WA for 1 month and 2 weeks... When you compare with the more than 5 years experience Labman has, I am just somebody that has an IT background and I pick things up maybe a little faster than average, but don't look to me as the expert on WA, therefore I am too ignorant...
;-)

Grtz,
Bert

It is a little bit more complicated than first thought when you read the article that Labman has sent you can see "added" and there they mention that also the Disallow: /wp-content/plugins/ setting can result in the problem you mention...

So I checked my search console and indeed... I have the same issue... see attachment.

But now you have to choose between enabling the visibility of the plugins or accepting the error about CSSC and JS.

I cannot immediately give the correct answer to this question and have to look for this first.

But I would suggest that you first get the content of your own robots.txt, then it will be easier to see where your problem is located...

Grtz,
Bert

Hello,

All info can be found in
Because also a lot of other users will have this problem (also I did, but did not realize, because google did not tell me) I think...

Grtz,
Bert

Thanks Bert, i will check later i hope this is the solution

I hope it will be, for me it was... ;-)

These are the 3 lines you definitely have to add

User-Agent: Googlebot
Allow: /*.js*
Allow: /*.css*

But I am surprised that you had this problem when you say that your robots.txt was empty...

Grtz,
Bert

Thanks Ignorant! I will check it out and i will let you know if this work.
And about you question: no i havent changed my robot.txt yet (also not empty).

Hello members, I like to setup an webshop. But in the Netherlands it is required by law to have an SSL certification for your website. I just get informed through the WA suppor

Hi JJJPP, well yes and no. Dutch law is also strange. But the strange thing is...WA also have ssl connection (by GoDaddy) why not offering this to their customers? I also doesnt have any reply from Kyle or Carson yet regarding this topic.

that's strange .. so, WA has its own SSL certificate but none of our websites can have that??? I have had some questions when I get no reply, I guess they don't when they cant ... I am not worried about law, but isn't not having it harmful for out site?

Yes it strange right? No it isnt harmful but it is better to have (also for Google ranking). Its more for protecting your customers private data.

Hi, did you find a solution. Not having SSL puts on a big risk, is it worth to work here then?

Hello guys, i have some problems with setting up my wa email through Outlook 2013. I have searched WA and i have used several tutorials but still with no succes.

I still

I use Thunderbird for my mail server. It is developed by the Mozilla people and has some great features no other email service provides. It also does not track your activity like the commercial services do.

I haven't used Outlook for years. totally don't like it. Outlook has always been complicated to setup.

I have found that if I want to change from a POP service to an IMAP I have to delete the POP account before installing the IMAP account.

Thunderbird is very easy to set up. I recommend you. I recently created my own email address at Bill808@resilientlivingtips.com following Kyles instructions. Then installed a new account on Thunderbird.

Let me know if you cannot figure it out. I have to set up a personal email for another website so I will document the details of how I do it.

Hey! Have you found a solution for this? I'm stuck too!

Me too - help please?

Sounds very complicated... Have you tried other plugins like "Subscribe2?" Subscribe2 is a very basic email plugin that emails people on your list whenever you update (publish new post). It will also build your subscription list for you. Hope that helps.
Ed

hey Standaar - Have you found a solution to this?
I've looked through all of the articles and training on WA with no success. I too have tried using my ISP SMTP settings without any luck.

Just wondering if anybody has been successful with this?

on some systems, it can be a P.I..the.A.
However there is a way to do this email setup business.

I did not see your original question, bit assuming you are trying to set up your email on out look, or thunderbird.

Man I feel your pain I have had frusrtation in site verification. I haven't got to email yet although I have watched tutorials on it.
I'm considering mailchimp I have heard good things about it. There is a learning curve but it is free till you get 2000 emails.

Marty

do not know if you have tried this approach

Yes i also have tried that tutorial...w/o succes :-(
Thanks for your response.

He has a few tutorials on this why not pm him and see if he can help.. as this was something he undertook

Yes i will do, thanks

Hi Standaar, did you solve the outlook configuration issue? I'm having the same problem...

@cmdz have you looked at the link I left on my response

I'll try when I get home...yesterday outlook finally worked but with some pop-up alerts...something still missing...thanks :)

WOW! you have a great site, I would just continue working on it, maybe posting surveys to find out what your fans are interested so can create blogs or create videos about what they are looking for and make sure to collect the emails so when ever you post something new you can email them, also have a pop up and give a free PLR report or something for name and email address. Yes Katie offers some good advice...I would wait a while, and after you see what is selling, what is not, consider dropping down to the items that are real hot and moving/profiting for you...Also you can see what kind of response you get from visitors (also ask for their opinions in the comment section at the end of your pages and posts)...Good luck!! dave : )

Thanks David! I will do. Also I am busy with another subject/website. Not bet on one horse :-)

Absolutely!! This is why I will have 9 sites at the end of this affiliate ordeal lol!! Cheers!!! : )

There is room enough for many in the same area it is about see if there is a specific area that is needed but there is not much coverage, as with all things it is about trial and error check your stats for engagement
