It's a journey

In 1996 I started training in Jiu-Jitsu... In 1997 I went to the Pan-Am games, I didn't do to well but the guy teaching me won his class. A guy name Saulo Ribeirio came up to us and we talked. Didn't know who he was.

Soon I found out he was 6 or 7 time world jiu-jitsu champion at that time. He wasn't a big guy, he didn't look overly strong. But I was just a beginner then, I under-estimated the power of the human brain, the power of learning, the power of determination...

My trainer somehow got Saulo to move from Rio de Janeiro Brazil to live in a small town in Ohio, USA. Saulo and his brother Xande lived and trained with us for 6 years. I think it was a commensal relationship. This gave the brothers a foundation in the USA to spread they type of jiu-jitsu across America opening many schools.

They now live in Sacramento Cali. They come back to Ohio a couple times a year, for a week or so to visit and train with us. We usually put on a MMA event and while they are back and they hold a seminar. You wouldn't believe how many people come to their seminars when they are here and how far they travel to get here.

If you are a MMA fan Saulo is the jiu-jitus coach for a few UFC fighters, probably the biggest name is Diego Sanchez, well I think they split up recently.

This is (in my opinion) a very cool video of the two brothers and I watch it whenever I have doubts. It reminds me of how many times they taught me something new and I failed but they taught me with enough practice you will eventually master anything you want. So when you fail with your website just look at it as practice and learn.

and here is the guy who originally taught me

I am not a IM guru, I've had some success but I want more.

I promise you if you try, if you actually try and at the end of the day can say I did all I could do, then you will not fail.

Just be determined and learn and you will accomplish your goal. I know this is a weird way to relate to IM but to accomplish anything in life takes the same things:  being honest with yourself, the willingness to learn, the willingness to fail and the willingness to do it all over again.

Unfortunately it's not an Olympic sport yet but sooner or later I am sure it will end up as one. Thanks for watching and seeing the correlation.

Hey Jeff, I watched both vids. Is this art included in the Olympics? I can see the correlation you are making to IM. Both jui-jitsu and IM take skill, discipline and determination, plus a lot of practice, and it's competitive. Btw, I often wrestle with my computer, it just looks different. Less physical.

yes i forgot to say to action

Take action! The quicker you make mistakes the quicker you'll learn from them, and the quicker you will have success.

Thanks for sharing. :)
