Hi All, I have a question I have been grappling with for a little while.

Why is Quoted Search Results (QSR) used as a ranking indicator?Keyword tool has it as does Jaxxy i

You're right Steve. Think about it .....when was the last time you used a quote in your keyword search. I don't think I ever have.

Thanks for sharing this knowledge.

I have been somewhat confused about this as well. I thought my keywords were good but my pages aren't ranking (well I guess they are just so far past page one). But then I have also been told it's not necessarily my keywords it's the fact that the site is only 5 weeks old and it takes a while to get the pages to rank.

Beau is right. The QSR should be 300 or fewer. Using keywords and continue creating content with the use of keywords will increase traffic over time. Google Trends is a good tool to use. You type in a keyword and it tracks not only the relevance of the word or words and where it is being searched. What might be relevant in China may not be relevant in the US.

I'm confused about this also. Why then, do people always say to use the quotation marks. I never do, but wonder why anyone would use them? I hope someone can answer this.

Beau, I now what you are saying, but in chat I'll hear people saying, "are you using the quotation marks to search"

quoted searches are exact match and they are not how people search online. The QSR is to show you the exact competition for that exact phrase. When someone searches without these quotes google will then include searches that are relevant or similar. This is why you will have more results
